individual’s work history provides a rich source of information about an applicant’s future as a business student and as a professional. In the absence of this information, other sources - undergraduate record, internships, Summer employment, part-time work experiences, leadership potential - are given relatively more weight in the evaluation process.

HRTP is open to currently enrolled as matriculated undergraduate, graduate, and professional students in a degree program at an accredited college or university. Recent graduates are not eligible unless they will be enrolled as matriculated student in a degree program at an accredited institution. (i.e. If a student is graduating from college in May 2007, s/he is only eligible if matriculated in a degree program in Fall 2007.) Applicants must be in good academic standing.

Applications must come from UK groups and it is not normal practice for a co-applicant to be based overseas. In exceptional circumstances, applicants can seek further advice from the Research Team about this issue. It is not necessary to send electronic copies of letters from collaborators. Applications will be accepted from persons with an undergraduate degree / programme, or extensive experience in the field sport and/or recreation or an allied field (eg sports science, wellness, recreation, tourism, teaching, nursing / social work, marketing). Academic and nonacademic qualifications are considered in the selection process. Selection for admission is based on the sum of two scores: an objective score which comprises approximately 60-70 percent of the final calculation and a subjective score which comprises the remainder. The objective evaluation is based on scholastic achievement and standardized test scores. Official transcripts of college course grades are examined to determine scholastic achievement.

Academic record, research experience, research publications, proof of English proficiency, etc. Distribution of students over different areas of research is also a consideration.

Admissions is based on superior undergraduate performance (especially in math, science, and/or engineering), scores of the General Test of the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) and three letters of recommendation. Prior experience in a research setting is an important factor in the evaluation process. Results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOFEL) are required of international students.

Admission to IGSPP is modeled on admission to graduate school.

The most essential document for the selection is the portfolio of each applicant. The portfolio should show representative examples of design work (academic and/or professional), publications, awards, etc. that you consider most relevant. The Panel members assess the applicant's work, focussing on aspects such as consistency and potential for further development. Another crucial criterion for selection is the written proposal, which must be clear and well argued.

The evaluators are looking for convincing evidence that the applicant will pursue a pioneering approach to a problem of relevance to biomedical or behavioral research. They will also assess whether alternative funding is already available to pursue this direction and whether there is compelling justification for the advantage of using the NDPA process rather than the standard peer review process. Senior fellows, postdocs, and faculty who are just starting out in their careers will receive highest priority. Applications that provide a clear commitment to a career in clinical or basic research will be reviewed positively. A strong letter of nomination indicating commitment on the part of the Department Chair to support the candidate's research career will be very important in producing a strong application. Particularly important factors in deciding to hire applicants are the industry and specialist know-how they have acquired and can be used at SAP SI. We also attach special importance to experience in the SAP environment, your achievements to date, your knowledge of languages and experience abroad and social commitment. Academic credentials cannot be assessed without the context of a complete application. The minimum requirements for us to consider an applicant is that the student must not have any Fs, must not be missing any required courses, and must have over a 2.25 GPA.
