In general, successful applicants have maintained at least a 3.0 undergraduate grade point average (GPA) and a combined score of at least 1,000 on the verbal and quantitative sections of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Average scores vary by degree programs and range from 1100-1400.

The BBS Program does not publish GPA or GRE data on our applicant pool. Our main guideline to applicants is that although a high GPA and high GRE scores are attractive to admissions committees, they do not guarantee admission. On the other hand, GPAs below 3.0 and GRE scores below 500 Verbal, 500 Quantitative, or 3.0 Writing are detrimental to your application.

Of the 28 students currently enrolled in the program, 30% are women, 5% are underrepresented minorities, and 30% are international. 100% of our students are full-time; we do not have a part-time program.

Please remember that these are averages and not minimum requirements. When making a decision, we review the entire application not just test scores and GPA.

Because we recognize that different schools use various grading criteria, it is difficult to determine an average GPA for the class. GPA is only one of many factors that the Admissions Board uses in evaluating an applicant.

For the past years (since we have been a Master's program), our average bachelor's degree GPA has been ~3.4, with a range from 3.0 to 3.98. Average GREs for the same period have been ~1050-1100 for Verbal plus Quantitative sections, with a range from 800 to ~1350. We anticipate that future classes will be in a similar range.

Answer: The average GPA and GMAT scores for the fall 2005 incoming Day MBA class were 3.2 and 611, respectively. As each applicant’s file is reviewed in its entirety, there are no set minimums or maximum GPA or GMAT scores required.

For 2006, admitted applicants received average scores of Verbal 587/76, Quantitative 760/82, and Writing 4.64/55.

Typically, the average verbal and quantitative score is 950 – 1040, although the overall range is greater.

The range of GRE scores for the verbal section was 640-750 and 600-800 for the quantitative section. The average GRE score for the verbal section was 664 and 760 for the quantitative section. The average GPA for students entering the program was 3.7.

What we are most interested in is the applicant's research potential. These scores are just one of many criteria we consider. There are no minimum scores. We much prefer students who have taken challenging advanced courses to those with top scores on rudimentary courses. There are many ways for applicants to demonstrate their research potential.

We normally tell students they should be in the B+ range to be competitive. The admission process incorporates 1) overall GPA; 2) prerequisite GPA; and 3) GRE score. Each of these areas is weighted equally. Thereby, the applicant could remain in the competitive range if they were low in one area i.e. overall GPA and up in the other two. Historically, applicants with GRE scores below 900 are not competitive.

Your junior/senior major GPA should be above a 3.0; however, if there are extenuating circumstances for a lower GPA, you may still be considered for admission. Please address those issues in your personal statement. The GREs are only one of the factors we consider, so again, if there are extenuating circumstances, use your personal statement to address this issue.

The GRE scores and GPA are very important to gain admission to the ESPM graduate program. The average GRE scores for those we accepted in the program for Fall 2005 were: Verbal: 625/84%, Quantitative: 698/73%, and Analytical: 5.10 or 701/83%. The average GPA for those accepted was 3.60. The GPA is based on undergraduate course work done in the last two years, i.e. junior and senior status.

For the 2007 application cycle, our average incoming student has a cumulative GPA of 3.6 and a science GPA of 3.5. The average DAT score was 19.

Accepted students in the 2006 entering class had an average GPA of 3.6 and an average MCAT score of 31.02

The average ACT score of our 2002-03 incoming class was a 29, and their average HS GPA was 3.8. However, you should not be deterred if you do not meet these standards, as we have students with lower ACT scores and HS GPA that have done very well in our program.

The minimum acceptable TOEFL score is 79 (internet based), 213 (computer based) and 550 (paper based). We do not compile the average GRE score. The composite GRE for fellowship applicants must be in the 75th percentile or above.

The average GRE score for master's students admitted in recent years is approximately 1000 (sum of the verbal and quantitative sections only). Applicants with GRE scores lower than about 900 (verbal + quantitative) typically need to have a strong cumulative GPA (approx. 3.4 or higher) to be admitted. For doctoral applicants, GRE scores are generally somewhat higher than for master’s applicants.

The average GPA for the entering class of 2007 was 3.52 and the average LSAT was 155. The 75th percentile was 157 and the 25th percentile was 152.

The average GRE scores this past year was 1120 counting verbal and quantitative only. GMAT average was 540.

The average verbal GRE score for enrolled 2006 candidates was 562. The average quantitative GRE score for enrolled 2006 students was 647.

The average GPA is 3.7. Most of our matriculants have double-digit scores on the MCAT, or a total of 30 and above.

First we look at the applications on their individual merit. We look at all of the materials and try to arrive at an accurate portrait of the applicant that includes experience, the breadth of previous coursework and recommendations. We do see scores and GPAs in all ranges. In general, however, competitive GRE scores will be in the 600s for the verbal section, in the 600s for the quantitative section, and 5 or above (on a 6-point scale) for the writing section. Competitive GPAs will be 3.

We really cannot say based only on your GPA, GRE and (for international students) TOEFL scores what your chances of admission and a funding offer are. We look at the entire application, including your courses (and grades in them), your personal statement, and your letters of recommendation.
