This is caused by security update 925902 (MS07-017) and security update 928843 (MS07-008) documented here. Download the fix here.

This is a confirmed bug in Windows XP. A workaround is to hover your mouse over the Start button and then to the system tray. Another workaround is to click on Start > Programs > (right-click) > Sort By Name. Yet another is to click on Start > Turn Off > Cancel. But these sometimes don't work. Microsoft recommends logging off or restarting the PC to fix this problem. This is a confirmed bug (Q274315) in Internet Explorer 6 and 7.

You can minimize the window, by choosing Minimize in the system menu of the window. To show the system menu, click on the icon on the left in the title bar.

At the top right corner of your browser you will see three small buttons. The first has a dash, the second looks like two small overlapping boxes and the third has an X. To minimize the window move your mouse over to the box with the dash. When the arrow is on this box, click the left mouse button. This will cause the window to minimize so that it does not obscure any other windows currently open. You can still be access the minimized window from the toolbar at the bottom of your screen.

The Web Start sandbox for unsigned apps doesn't include the permission: awt.showWindowWithoutWarning. Thus, unsigned/untrused apps running in the sandbox show a banner (on top on Unix, on bottom on Windows) on all top level windows. Signed applications with all-permissions will not show it. The taskbar is the horizontal bar along the bottom of the Desktop. It has the Start button on the left. Displayed in small rectangles near the middle of the taskbar are the programs that are running. MIMIC is a client/server application, i.e., it consists of two complementary sets of programs. The server program mimicd needs to run before the client programs mimicview and mimicsh can do their work. When you start mimicview, the GUI client, it starts the server program mimicd automatically, if it is not already running. This problem occurs when your SecureFM configuration disables the Minimize command in the File System and the Application System menus: These configurations will not only disable the Minimize commands in the File System and Application System menus as well as the Minimize button in the window title bar, the Toggle Window [Minimize] script step will also no longer work.
