A Residence Hall Director is a live-in professional staff member who supervises, manages and directs the residence hall and staff. Huntington University RDs are all college graduates.

Registered Dietitians (RD's) are health professionals specializing in food and nutrition. In order to earn the nationally-recognized credential of RD, a candidate must complete a Bachelors Degree in Food and Nutrition and/or Masters Degree in Nutrition or American Dietetic internship. RD status also requires successfully passing the National Registration Exam and accumulating a sufficient number of on-going Continuing Education credits annually.

Completion of the DPD and receipt of the Verification Statement will allow the student to apply for a dietetic internship. A list of dietetic internships can be found on the website listed above. After completing the dietetic internship, the student sits for the Registration Examination for Dietitians. If successful on the exam, the graduate then becomes a Registered Dietitian (RD).

Individuals who complete an associate degree in a CADE-accredited/approved Dietetic Technician Program may be able to transfer academic credits to a Coordinated Program in Dietetics (CP) or Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD). Some Dietetic Technician Programs have established articulation agreements that specify the coursework that will be accepted as transfer credit.

Having an RD preceptor is a requirement from the national Dietary Managers Association. The RD MUST spend a total of 50 hours with the student. This is approximately one hour per week for a year. The RD must sign off on all lessons before they are submitted to the instructor. The RD may spend less time on some lessons, and more time on others, depending on the student's needs. But - the total at the end of the course must add up to 50 hours.

The 50 hours can include time spent directly with the student, time spent reviewing lessons before submission to the instructor, and time spent designing projects for the student to complete.
