Regional Coding Enhancement. Basically an extra level of region checking which is designed to defeat multi-region players.

RCE stands for Regional Coding Enhancement (see about Charlie's Angels above). Basically (in theory !!) if you have a multi region player and insert an RCE disc, the disc can tell your DVD player is multi region and will not work, but it's not foolproof, many multi region players can actually play them. RCE discs are less common nowadays.

Region Coding Enhancement (abbreviated as RCE on our site) is the practice of additional region protection software applied to R1 DVDs to prevent them from being viewed by non-R1 machines. Currently only the Columbia and Warner studios actively pursue this policy. Not all so-called ?multi-region? players are compliant with this software so we strongly advise that you check with your machine?s specifications before ordering these titles.

Terminals have the status of RCE's work points in the territory, without having their own legal entity, which have the obligation to communicated exactly the identity elements of the exchange institution, such as brand, principles, mission and values. These work points are administrated by legal entities other than RCE, having all the experience necessary to perform under best conditions the exchange activity.

Some region 1 titles from Columbia Tristar have an encoding called 'Regional Coding Enhancement' (RCE). This will prevent the DVD from playing on some multi-region or region-free DVD players. In general, any multi-region player that has the option for you to manually choose the regional setting will not be affected by RCE. Please make sure that your player can handle this encoding before ordering, as we are unable to accept any returns due to RCE.

Although the player is able to access to Internet content, it is not designed as a typical browser, because it doesn't have the same processing power as a PC. The USB port may not be supplying enough power to your USB HDD. Pls ensure that enough power (or external power) is supplied. Also ensure that your HDD is in FAT32 format.

Regional Coding enhancement (RCE) is an additional layer of protection which some studios have placed on certain DVDs to prevent them from playing on region-free or multi-region players. RCE is something completely different than region coding - It's an additional piece of programming on the DVD that checks to see if your DVD player is set to 'no region' ... if it is, it stops playing the DVD.

Recently, the Motion Picture Association of American (MPAA) has developed a new system called Regional Coding Enhancement (RCE) which will be included on almost all new region 1 DVD releases. This new technology was created to prevent some codefree DVD players from playing DVD discs purchased in North America. Currently, there is no word on whether or not this technology will be included on other regions.

R.C.E. stands for "Recommended for Community Education". NVCC has other ESL courses in its Community Education division. Additionally, ESL classes are offered by various cities and counties around Northern Virginia. Many students with RCE scores can find suitable instruction in one of these programs to prepare them for entry into the NVCC credit ESL program at a later date.

RCE is a way devised by some of the major film studies to prevent DVDs playing on players that have been modified to play DVDs from regions other then the region of purchase. In reality RCE is little more then a mechanism designed to trick you player into admitting it's not a genuine Region (X) player. Similar systems have been used by Disney in the past and all of these systems can be avoided if your player has an option to manually set the region.

Region Code Enhancement (RCE) is just that, an enhancement to the region code idea. In our answer to the previous question, we discussed that there are region-free DVD players that have been modified after-market by third-party vendors to evade the region code restriction. To counter that, the DVD format now includes a stricter mechanism called Region Code Enhancement. The region code is now embedded in the digital bitstream so it becomes harder to foil by region-free DVD players.

If you can MANUALLY set your region, either by remote hack, chip or tick box in software for computer players, then you need not be worried about discs such as The Patriot (R1) refusing to play on your setup. However if you can only set region 0 or your chipped system automatically detects your region, then you may find that the disc will refuse to play. Nothing short of getting another type of chip or a new system can remedy this.
