A – Ideally the image would be medium (approx. 500 KB) to high resolution (800 KB or higher). We find that low resolution images are just not good enough. We want to be able to pass these photos on to the loved ones of South Africa’s war dead and the last thing we want to do is send them a poor quality shot.

Any injury that involves the knee being twisted while the foot is planted on the ground can result in a serious ligament injury. Key features of a serious knee injury include a feeling of instability (i.e. a sense that the knee may collapse from underneath you). Recurrent episodes of the knee collapsing with associated swelling and pain are an obvious sign that all is not well, and that medical attention should be sought.

A – If you are a one time contributor and don’t own a digital camera then we can accept photos of small cemeteries by mail or if you scan those images and send to us we’ll accept them that way. However if you attempting a large cemetery or expect to be contributing a lot then I strongly advise buying a digital camera as you’ll soon pay for it by the saving of not having to develop the photos.

A – Each of the project directors of the other 4 war grave projects is very busy as well. Not everyone can instantly answer your email. We all have lives, work at a job, have some sort of family commitment and then squeeze in 3-4 hours a day or more of project work. Be patient they will eventually answer you. The South Africa War Graves Project can only speak on behalf of its own project.

Take it easy for the rest of the day. Take as little exercise as you can, and rest as much as you can. Keep your head up to avoid any bleeding.

How much resolution is enough? (When should I stop caring if they add more resolution to new models?)

Don’t be put off – it’s not as difficult as you think. Besides, we will help you through the entire process from the moment you book until you breakdown your stand after the show. You will be invited to attend one of our Exhibitor Training Workshops where we will give you ideas on how to make the most of your stand and guide you through the do’s and don’ts of exhibiting.

We recommend at least 1.3 megapixels or 1280 by 960 resolution. Lower resolution cameras work just fine with Whiteboard Photo, but you may have to take multiple pictures of a whiteboard or blackboard to capture the entire contents.

It depends. Are you going to view images on a computer monitor? If so you will only need 1024 x 768 or about 3/4 of a Megapixel. Are you going to print the images? If so, how big and at what resolution. To print an 8x10 at a good resolution, you will need at least 3 Megapixels. Fortunately, most all digital cameras today have resolution at this level. What if your camera has more than three megapixels? You may want to dial back the resolution to make the files smaller and more managable.

Some digital cameras will let you know what the image resolution is, while others will tell you what the pixel dimensions of your image are. If you know what the pixel dimensions of your images are either from the camera itself or through the image editing software, you can do a little math to determine the resolution, and the size you can print the image at for clear and crisp printing.

Of course. Our trips are for travelers of all experience levels. We feel that your experiences as a traveler can only add to the experiences of the group and could prove to be invaluable to others who have not traveled as much. Sharing experiences and learning from each other is what the program is all about.

Convenience. If I restrain myself, I can usually limit myself to 500 or so pictures on a two week trip. If I don't, I can go through that much in a long weekend. That's a lot of rolls of film, and that assumes that I get the picture right every time; otherwise the actual yield could be significantly less than the exposures used. You never know when you will be able to get a good shot, and once you leave somewhere, you may never get another chance.

Even if the ditch no longer appears to by dry, the responsibility to ensure it is kept clear of debris and other obstructions still apply.  The ditch may form a vital part in clearing street or land runoff, especially in times of localised flooding.

While we do conduct participatory, backpacking safaris on request, the bulk of our safaris are more upscale. You’ll stay in first-class lodges similar to what are found in, say, Yellowstone National Park. Most tented camps are anything but what you might find on a weekend camping trip in the USA. The tents are large – they are big enough to walk into and stand in -- with comfortable twin beds, complete with linen and duvets, and other furniture.

Some cameras are designed for this, so you should check your manual. It's rare to find this feature in high quality digital cameras, but lower quality multifunction cameras with CMOS sensors sometimes offer this. See, for example, AipTek. If your camera doesn't already support some webcam features, you may still be able to do it if you have a video capture card (or USB device) of some kind, by connecting the video out from your camera to the video in on your PC.

The good news is, unless you are shooting close-up pictures of jewelry, you don't need an expensive camera to take good product shots. If you are shooting pictures for use on websites and not for print, you can get a good camera for less than $200. The quality of your images is going to depend much less on the sophistication of your camera and much more on your lighting and how well you operate the camera.

Yes you can although you can’t increase the size of your images above 6 x 4 inches (15x10 cm) and you need to be careful about how far you crop your images. There is no reason why you can’t create your own beautiful album. The Album Editor will warn you if you try and use shots that are at too low a level of resolution. When used as a background images are made transparent, which means, they are given that washed out look to create that great looking contrast effect.

Consult your digital camera's user manual to determine if it has the ability to take and produce the types of prints you desire. Check your user manual for instructions about settings to ensure the proper resolution; features vary from camera to camera.
