The lorikeets that feed at the sanctuary are wild birds, therefore we have no control over their numbers. The birds prefer to feed from natural sources rather than come to CWS during warmer weather, when there are many native trees in full bloom. Our aim is to provide a supplement to their diet, we do not replace it all.

The mixture that we feed the lorikeets is a commercially produced product called Wombaroo ? Lorikeet and Honey-eater food. It comes in a powder, which we mix with water and add a little bit of honey for taste. The powder contains vitamins and minerals. Wombaroo has milk products in it and does not have any traces of nuts. Wombaroo products and a number of other commercial produced foods for wildlife are now available in large pet shops

Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is located at Angel Canyon, a 33,000-acre ranch in the majestic red-rock country of southern Utah, just outside the town of Kanab. The sanctuary is at the heart of the famous Golden Circle of national parks, close to Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon's North Rim, Bryce Canyon, and Lake Powell.

NO. Allies cannot be healed at Sanctuary - even in TWO TOWERS site path , unless it is in their ability to do so or if you discard a UNIQUE ALLY card from your hand to heal the same UNIQUE ally in play (like healing UNIQUE Companions). Only specific Allies with the ability to heal in their CARD TEXT can do so. Elrond, Lord of Rivendell CAN heal at FELLOWSHIP Site 3 and can use his special abilities only at THIS Site.

We will upgrade the sound system and enhance acoustics in the Chapel and provide sound and video capability for the Assembly Room. The former Learning Center space will be converted to a Music Center for our growing choirs of all ages. In addition, our choir rehearsal space will be the location for our participation in a multi-church downtown Music Academy. The Central Music Academy (CMA) is a 501c(3) non-profit organization that was chartered in 2004 by Central Christian Church.

To offset some of the heat generated by the 13,000 lights used on the tree, the Sanctuary is made cooler than normal during the presentations. Please dress warmly!

SHAS is funded primarily by the donations of members and well wishers. Donations to SHAS are tax-deductible. A financial statement is available upon request. Since SHAS receives no city, state or federal funding we rely solely on charitable donations, fundraisers and the good will of people who love animals and want to help. Your support is crucial for us to continue our mission for years to come.

Lands purchased and managed by the EEL Program are called Sanctuaries. They serve three main functions:

Farm Sanctuary is the nation’s leading farm animal protection organization. Since incorporating in 1986, we have worked to expose and stop cruel practices of the “food animal” industry through research and investigations, legal and legislative actions, public awareness projects, youth education, and direct rescue and refuge efforts.

The objective of our Safe Sanctuary policy is to ensure a safe, secure Christian atmosphere for all children and students during Covenant-sponsored events and worship services. More information and a copy of our policy can be found here.

It is a lot tougher than it seems. Many people are under the erroneous assumption that they can build a sanctuary and the public will support it. Read How We Got Started to see what we did and perhaps learn from our trials and errors.

No-kill" means that animals are not destroyed except in cases of terminal and painful illness, when compassion demands euthanasia because there is no reasonable alternative.

The Sanctuary renovations include the complete refurbishment and enhancement of our 107-year old organ; plaster ceiling repair; replacement of the 25-year-old heating and air conditioning system; expand chancel area to provide more flexibility for worship; upgrade the sound system, augment lighting and enhance acoustics; expansion of the choir loft to provide flexible seating for 40+ choir members.

During the time the Sanctuary is closed for worship--roughly mid-February 2006 until March 1, 2007--we will worship in our chapel. We will expand to multiple worship services on Sunday mornings to accommodate our membership. Many congregations are forced to find a movie theater or office space for worship when their primary space is shut down. Through the faithful stewardship of those that preceded us, First Church can avoid this dislocation and stay in our own space.

When a mountain lion is declared a public safety threat, the DFG’s goal is to eliminate the threat in the most humane manner possible. Capturing a wild animal that is accustomed to traveling great distances and confining it to a relatively small enclosure is not a humane option.

The NMS was created by Congress via the enactment of the Marine Protection, Research and Sanctuaries Act (MPRSA) of 1972. It provides for the protection of the nation’s unique marine resources via designation of the sites that contain these resources as sanctuaries. Florida’s original sanctuaries were designated at Key Largo in 1976, and Looe Key in 1981.

In 2002, three parish meetings were held which resulted in a series of concept statements (Link to concept statements) that have provided guidance for our discussion and decisions. One of the goals was to provide a gathering space. Since most of our parishioners enter from the parking lot side of the building a major entrance on that side of the building became desirable.

Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary is a newly formed non-profit organization whose goal is to establish a facility unique to Silicon Valley.

We have no paid positions at SHAS so all the donations we receive directly benefit the animals in our care. Donations are used for: Veterinary expenses. Some animals require more care than others. All of our animals are spayed/neutered before placement, heartworm and FIV/FeLV negative, all vaccinations, wormed, microchipped and provided antibiotics if necessary. Assisting in helping defray the costs of printing brochures, adoption contracts, flyers, newsletters, advertising, etc.

For the few years we have operated a small sanctuary located in the Saratoga foothills to care for feral cats. The Sanctuary currently resides on a quarter acre of loaned land. The sanctuary is open to the public by appointment only. Within the next few years, we hope to purchase a minimum of 30 acres of land and build a new facility that could house up to 300 animals or more.

SHAS offers animals a refuge and a haven where they can find healing and happiness and the chance for a new life. Animals coming to us will be rehabilitated and placed good homes with permanent or foster families whenever possible to make way for new arrivals. Others who are too badly traumatized through ill treatment ? or are old, crippled or chronically ill ? find a permanent refuge at SHAS, and a life that makes up for whatever went before.

Universal access is a term used to describe a philosophy of access for all people regardless of age and ability. A major goal of the EEL Program is to provide universal access to its sanctuaries. To help reach this goal the EEL Program held a one-day workshop in June 1995. People with physical disabilities and organizations that support and serve them were invited. At the workshop they were asked what the EEL Program could do to make natural areas more accessible.

The EEL Selection & Management Committee (EELSMC) plays a very important role in helping the EEL Program conserve land in Brevard County. The Board of County Commissioners selects the seven member volunteer committee based on their scientific knowledge and experience. Each member is a scientist who lives and works in Brevard County, and has years of experience working with the issues facing Brevard's natural areas.

A National Marine Sanctuary is a federally designated and protected marine area. The Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary is the only NMS in Florida.

There is currently one model home under construction and a second model home will begin construction in December. Other lot owners will begin construction in the first half of 2006.

Sanctuary Bay is an immense property (over 12,000 acres) which is located south of Belize City. It is a 2 hour drive or a 15 minute flight from Belize City. It is located approximately 30 minutes South of Dangriga and 30 minutes North of Placencia.
