Our standard kayak kits include full-length cedar strips, that means the main shipment is a 6” x 8” x 18’ long crate. Other parts of the kit ship in two to three small boxes, about 2’ x 2’ x 1’ in size. Please note many kit companies do not supply or ship full-length strips. Full-length strips are more expensive material. We also deliver the building strongback.

Yes. All of our wooden kayak kits can be custom fit using our proprietary custom fit software. That means the boats are sized to fit your body.

Pyranha were the first kayak company to recognise the need for different sizes of kayak for different sizes of paddler. Each different size is designed with an optimum weight in mind (including all the gear you want to put in there!) and this should be considered when choosing your boat (there are handy graphs in the brochure which can be found on the individual product pages) These should be used as a guide to point you in the right direction.

Generally, you will only need to provide two measurements: (1) a measurement from the small of your back to the outside of the rim at the back for barrel placement and (2) your waist measurement for barrel size. The kits that are made from the real wood are advertised as a "Real Wood Kits". Other kits are not made of a real wood. However we do not recommend real wood. Here are a couple of reasons. Most wooden boats will actually weigh less than commercially manufactured boats. Because wood is structurally efficient, a boat built with it can be made quite light. The only real downside of wood is that since it is a natural material it is not necessarily consistent in its weight. And obviously different wood species will have different densities and result in finished products with different weights.

Most are built with 100 to 200 hours of work including varnishing and sanding time. When we build our wooden kayaks we take 150 hours and more. It all depends on the level attention you want to give the building. You can sweat the small stuff or get it together to go paddle.

For pens and smaller projects, we stock standard, exotic, and rare species of woods as well as colorful acrylic blanks in either pre-drilled or solid and ready for drilling. For larger projects, we carry turning stock (1-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 12"L, 2" x 2" x 12" L) and Bowl Blanks (2" x 5" x 5"). A recommended wood size is listed with each projects’ description.

We try and make building one of our boats as easy as possible. People from all types of backgrounds build our boats. A You can use pretty much any type of wood as long as it has not been chemically treated with preservatives etc. Standard cordwood split one additional time is good for optimal burning/heating. Lengths the stoves can handle are as follows:

Yes. Simply re-apply the ink plate to hand or foot in sections until entire surface is inked then take your print on white cardstock or any paper surface. Yes, as part of our Print Kit Pro service, we can repair/restore prints taken elsewhere.

Foot room is at a premium in any high performance, low profile Greenland design kayak. A Manitou will accommodate a paddler with size 12 feet in the proper footwear. A Recluse will fit a paddler with size 11. If footroom is a concern, we strongly suggest test paddling first.

What most folks are used to seeing is oak flooring 2-1/4" wide in assorted lengths. Flooring is available in wider widths, the wider the board, the more expensive. Normally oak flooring is 3/4" thick.

You'll find that our assembled and tested modules are usually cheaper than a kit because we make them in volume. We also use several automated processes such as soldering and wire cutting/stripping which reduce the time (and cost). Some modules require fancy test equipment to calibrate correctly. This is especially true of Oscillators. The documentation required to describe building a module would be much larger than the documentation to show how to operate it.

Qualitative Test: Dilute the sample 1:64 in Wash Buffer. Prepare all dilutions in a minimum volume of 100 uL Wash Buffer. This requires a minimum sample size of 1.6 uL. Quantitative Test: The sample ‘titre’ can be determined by preparing two-fold serial dilutions of the sample in Wash Buffer, starting with a 1:64 dilution, and adding equal volumes of diluted sample and Wash Buffer for each consecutive dilution, until a ‘+1’ grade of fluorescence is achieved.
