No. If a local anaesthetic injection is used this will put the sight (vision) to sleep as well as removing feeling and paralysing eye movement. Even if only anaesthetic eye drops are used the bright light of the operating microscope will tend to bleach vision and the surgical manoeuvres are so close to the eye that there is little if any visual appreciation of what is happening. The other eye will be covered.

The phakic intraocular lens, which has recently been FDA approved is a non-laser treatment. In the intraocular lens treatment we make an incision in the side of the cornea, place an artificial lens between the iris and the eye's natural lens, then close the incision. When the numbing drops wear off, most people describe their eye as feeling “scratchy.” Your doctor may prescribe pain medicine to make you more comfortable. If your doctor has placed a patch or shield over your eye, do not remove it until instructed to do so. Your eye may be mildly sensitive to light and glare. Wear sunglasses to ease your discomfort. While the outer layer of your cornea is healing, you may also have the feeling that something is in your eye.

During cataract removal surgery, a microscopic incision was made on the surface of your eye. When you blink, you may feel a slightly scratchy sensation until the incision heals. After surgery, many patients find that using artificial tears helps to alleviate discomfort.

It depends on whether or not you had very thin lips beforehand. If you had very thin lips and added a lot of volume, it is possible he or she to be able to feel the change. However, you will both get used to it very quickly. You will usually grow very accustomed to it and no longer feel as though it is foreign.

The Visian ICL is one of several Phakic lenses. A Phakic lens means that the natural lens of the eye is not removed, but remains in place behind the new artificial lens. In contrast, during cataract surgery, the natural lens, which has become cloudy and damaged, is removed before a new implant is inserted.
