Can a DigitalShipper solution replace a WMS or ERP system?

Welcome to Digital Shipper
No. DigitalShipper ISM software is designed as a backend process to a WMS or ERP system. Often we are asked to incorporate pick & pack applications for package level detail requirements into our software and we have even adjusted inventory counts based on what was being shipped through or system. Even though the software allows us the flexibility to create these processes to solve a deficiency in a customer’s system, our solution is primarily based on shipping automation.

Implementation varies based on the overall goals of each individual company. We work with companies of all sizes, from Fortune 500 companies down to much smaller operations where there are less than 50 employees, and the goals and requirements of each company can be and usually are vastly different. This causes implementation time to vary from one installation to the next. That said, in most situations we can fully implement a solution in about 4 to 6 weeks.

Why should a company purchase a DigitalShipper solution when a carrier provided system is free?

Welcome to Digital Shipper
Carriers do a good job of providing a solution when a company uses a single carrier and shipping volumes are relatively low. When a system is provided by the carrier, you ship your packages through that carrier, process your shipments their way, and follow their rules. As long as business requirements are simple then this type of solution may work for smaller companies.

How does TCS fit in between the WMS solution and the device control systems from the MHE vendors?

_Tier_1.gif
In the traditional approach to this problem, each device control system demands its own interface to the WMS. The various MHE systems represent islands of automation within the distribution center. This approach incurs WMS modification expense and does not provide an integrated systems view of the entire MHE layout. TCS integrates between the WMS and the existing device control systems (or, in some cases, replaces the existing device control systems).
