PAWS is the University of Saskatchewan web portal that provides Personalized Access to Web Services. All registered students, faculty and staff have access to e-mail, personal calendars, course information, campus life information and more...anytime....anywhere.

We are not part of the SPCA. We have worked with the SPCA in the past but we are separate organizations. Unfortunately because we have limited resources we are only able to serve clients in San Francisco. Feel free to call the PAWS office at 415.979.9550 and we will try to refer you to a place that may be able to help you. We do have many volunteers from the east bay and often attend events there.

There are eight full-time and two part-time paid employees at PAWS. We also work with up to four interns each year (2 vet students & 2 public health students), to assist us with research on the health benefits of the human-animal bond and public policy issues. In addition, we work with over 350 volunteers who give their time to PAWS.

Dirty Paws is based out of Evansville, IN but we do have a few foster homes in the states surrounding Indiana. Yes, we do allow out of state adoptions. A lot of our rescues have found wonderful homes in different states.

This may be a sign of skin allergies. Call your vet for more info. While this is normal behavior in cats, this is not normal behavior in dogs. There are several good flea products which have come out in the last two years, three of which include Program, Frontline and Advantage. Ask your Vet which one would be the best for your pet in your environment. In addition to treating your animal you must also treat your environment. Some suggestions include Flea Stoppers for inside.

White Bites treats contain baking soda, calcium carbonate, and a white food coloring. These compounds may rub off of the chew while being handled by your dog, and it may be especially noticeable for dark haired dogs that like to manipulate their treats with their paws. When this occurs, the white that rubs off is safe and is not likely to stain. If the white is a concern, simply wipe the area with a damp cloth.

Paw kneading usually means contentment, for example a nursing kitten will knead its paws against its mother's body.

Possibly. Some fabrics pretreated with any Scotch Guard (TM) or similar type product will make application difficult if not impossible. Always test a small, hidden area if you have any doubts. Of course. Adhesive is adhesive. However, most cats scratch on harder surfaces, and lower down on furniture backs and legs, where humans don't sit. Eventually, yes. But with ample amounts of product, it's simple to remove and reapply every six to eight weeks.

Because of different types of finishes, paints, age of furniture, etc., Fe-Lines, Inc. ALWAYS advises our customers to test a small piece of SP on an inconspicuous place FIRST. Use on open grained woods is not recommended due to possible splintering on removal. Densely grained woods and those with lacquered finishes may work well, but we still recommend a test.

Again, the same advice given for application to wood, applies here. Sticky Paws is an adhesive product. For the most part, Sticky Paws works beautifully on leathers, but on the very delicate, buttery grains or on leathers that may be "thin-skinned," Sticky Paws is not recommended. Please test a piece first in a hidden area. The test should be carried out over several days, and then the test area carefully inspected after Sticky Paws has been removed.

excellent solution to problem dog scratching. Soft Paws are vinyl nail caps that glue on to your dog's nails. They look like your dog's nails, only hollow. You fill them with the adhesive provided and glue them on to your dog's nails. The nail covers effectively blunt your dog's nails so no damage occurs when they scratch. They are completely safe and humane and can be used on dogs of all ages. Dogs tolerate the nail caps extremely well. Soft Paws are easy to apply at home.

On the PAWS website at Start a PAWS Agency you may receive information on starting up PAWS organizations in your area. PAWS, Pets Are Wonderful Support of San Francisco, often gets confused with other organizations. Among the other organizations we get confused with are: PAWS offers its services to low income San Franciscans with AIDS and other disabling illnesses.

We concentrate on saving and rehoming most Bully/Molosser Breeds, Rottweilers and most Small Breeds but we will take in others depending on space. We will occatioally take in a cat or kitten if we have the room. We evaluate every pet that comes into our rescue, we temperment test them to make sure they get along with kids, cats and other dogs. We also test for any aggressions they may have with food, toys and treats.

A common mistake is to try to log in with the wrong username and password. As explained in the PAWS handbook, you need the PAWS username and password you were given at enrolment. Sometimes people change the password and then forget what they changed it to. If you forget your PAWS password or if there is a problem, come to a help desk with college card or some other form of identification if you are a member of staff, and the password will be reset.

Logging on is a two stage process which involves authenticating the user and loading software from the server. Especially at busy times, this takes time as there are many applications essential for departmental teaching. Most PAWS PCs are up to date, and the servers have been updated. External web access may be delayed if the host web server and associated networks are running on slow hardware.

No, this is not possible because of software licensing restrictions. Using the internet, you can access many services from home, for example, the PAWS filestore and email.

PC manufacturers are now beginning to ship PCs without floppy drives as standard, so we expect to see them disappear from PAWS in the next few years as PCs are replaced. This reflects the increasing popularity of storage media such as USB memory sticks which have far greater capacity and are more reliable, as well as increasingly cost effective. For these reasons we recommend you acquire a USB memory stick.

Several requests have been made for MSN Messenger, which is a multimedia online chat service. After consideration it was decided this was not appropriate on PAWS, for a range of reasons: no academic requests have been made for MSN Messenger; some of its features eg chat and whiteboard, are available in the King's e-Learning Service

Soft Paws are a soft, smooth vinyl cap that is glued over the trimmed nail of the cat to render the scratching motions non-damaging to people or property. They are available at most vets, pet supplies or from the company directly. You can order from the company by calling 1-800-989-2542, or online at www.softpaws.com. At present, it costs $17 to order a package of 40 nail caps (incl. S/H). Since the caps stay on for approximately 6 weeks, 40 caps will last about 6 months.

Address books can be imported. The PAWS mail client supports import from Outlook, Netscape 4, and Eudora.
