The Ontario Racing Commission acts in the public interest to govern, direct, control and regulate the horse racing industry in Ontario and to ensure public confidence in the honesty and integrity of the industry.

The Ohio Resource Center for Mathematics, Science, and Reading was established in 1999 by the Ohio Legislature to provide Ohio's preK–16 teachers and teacher educators with high-quality Internet-based resources in the areas of mathematics, science, and reading. The ORC initiated and maintains a variety of programs in the interest of the industry and the public. These programs include both awareness and regulatory initiatives. They include the Horse Improvement Plan (HIP), the Horse Death Registry, the Lasix Program and the EPO program to name but a few.

A ruling is the declaration of a decision from an ORC official, such as a Judge or Steward or directly from the Commission itself regarding a race related issue. Licensees are obligated to comply with the conditions, penalties or requirements prescribed by a ruling as per the Rules of Racing.

The process for the initiation and appeal of a ruling are outlined by the Rules of Racing for both Thoroughbred and Standardbred racing. An appeal is a request to review any ruling or decision made by ORC officials. Notice of intent to appeal must be made to the appropriate ORC official no more than 48 hours after a ruling has been received. Proper documentation of the intention to appeal must be submitted within 8 days of the initial notice.

The effort for you is pretty simple and requires that you apply for a "User Credential" on-line, print out your application and have it notarized, then send the notarized application to ORC. Once you receive your credential, you will use it to login to the FMCSA Portal. If you have a successful login, and your company information is available for review your "test" is complete.

ORC is working with higher education institutions that are a part of Ohio's Centers of Excellence to gather data about ORC usage in higher education. Many of Ohio's teacher education institutions use ORC in methods classes. The IMS is the State Board-approved model curriculum. It contains useful information about Ohio's standards-based educational system.

Most ORC resources are "mined" from the Internet. ORC staff and Review Board members spend untold hours locating potentially appropriate resources. They search for resources on websites of professional associations, other states, institutions of higher education, and commercial and other educational providers. A few resources on the ORC website have been produced specifically for us.
