The Instruction Media Center, on the lower floor, has documentaries and other educational videos, DVDs, and films, as well as CDs, LPs, educational software, pictures, and more. A standard Laserdisc is a 12 inch (in diameter) double-sided optically read disc that stores high quality analog video. There are two kinds of twelve inch Laserdiscs, standard play (CAV) and extended play (CLV). CAV discs can only store 30 min of video on each side. However, any player can perform smooth multispeed searches and crystal clear still frames on these discs (unlike VHS which show still fields when paused. Fields have half the detail of frames.

Bootleg recordings of Beatles material, which have proliferated recently, are illegal material. Buying them seems to be illegal, and selling them certainly is. Thus your local record store is unlikely to carry them, but you can always ask for them by title, or take your chances at swap meets or via mailorder. Don't ask publicly on r.m.b. where specifically you can buy such material--it's considered impolite, not to mention dangerous, to require people to reveal sources.

Most of the libraries' media is housed in Media Materials and Reserves on the ground floor of the Terrell Library. The Brain Education Library houses a growing number of videos as well as a collection of phonograph records with children's songs, Native American (including Hawaiian) songs and chants, and other education-related recordings. Legitimate CDs will have clean, sharp artwork in the booklet and on the back cover. In addition, the legitimate CD will have "Y Kant Tori Read" in RED letters on a WHITE background on the spine. Also, the catalog number, printed on the spine, and the back of the legitimate CD is 81845-2, not 81845-1, which is the actual catalog number for the vinyl version.
