After you have registered for a video course, you should attend the orientation session in order to receive the syllabus for each video course you are taking. The syllabus will provide you with information concerning the text book(s), tests, and other assignments as well as contact information for the instructor or required class meetings. No. You must complete each modules in sequence. However, after completing a module you may return to it at any time. For example, module sequence 1,2,3,2,4 is possible but modules sequence 1,2,4,3 is not possible. Within a module you must complete the pretest and introduction before doing the exercises. The exercises can be completed in any order and all exercises must be completed before you can start the next module in the sequence.

Each student or prospective student should take the Orientation for Online Students. At the end of the Orientation is a Quiz. After submitting your quiz you will get a response via email from the Office of Distance Learning. Keep this email (your instructor may require it as proof that you are ready to take the class).

SCC video courses earn the same credits as classroom courses. The difference is in the delivery method and the student's role in distance learning coursework. Communication with your instructor will be through phone, mail or office hours. It is possible that contact with classmates may not occur at all.

Interactive Video classes are classroom-based and involve classrooms from different locations being connected. So, it is not possible to take this kind of class from home.

Yes. The AsiaWorks Basic Training is unlike the standard lecture-oriented seminar or classroom education we are used to. Feelings of uncertainty and even skepticism are a natural part of the course. The feature film licenses signed between the Audio Visual department of the Library and Audio Cine and Criterion are campus-wide, which include off-site locations. Other non-feature film videos are bought with educational rights, which include class showings on and off-campus. The Audio Visual Library, however, does not deliver videos to off-campus locations. Users have to pick up their materials from the Library.

The course is self-paced. On average it will take you 16-18 hours to complete. Over 90 days, you will only need to spend 6 hours per month, or less than 2 hours per week to complete the course on time.

Current technology restrictions require that we make video for delivery over the web much smaller than the video you see on TV. Otherwise, it could take your students days to download one video! Because we will compress your video into a smaller file size, you may notice that video is somewhat choppy while the audio still maintains its quality. The speed and quality of internet connection will also affect the playback rate of the video and audio.
