You are REQUIRED to take your test the same time as the rest of your class. The only exception is if your instructor has given you permission to take it at a later date. If you made application in Alabama but lived in another state when you made application or if you lived here in Alabama and moved away, we would not allow the exam to be proctored. If you have been approved to take the exam in another state, you would need to contact ELSES (877) 536-7729 to see if it could be proctored here.

To schedule an appointment for a proctored independent study exam you must call the Office of Retention and Student Success. You must provide the timeframe needed for testing and the institution in which you are testing. The fee for proctored exams is $20 per hour, based on the number of hours the institution allots for the test.

The Office of Exams and Testing Services sends an email invitation to the email address on record in PeopleSoft to every student who is 1) registered to take one or more courses that has an exam that will be available in the computer-based format and 2) who is registered to take final exams at an alternate testing site or regional testing site that participates in UMUC Online Final Exam Administration. The data for 2005 proctored exam won't be compiled until after the February BV Training Center (TC), but will be provided when it is.

The psychometric analysis of the current exam shows it to have a validity of 0.940 (out of a possible 1.0 rating), which is considered very reliable in the testing industry. Students have 3 hours to complete any final exam for a course offered by the School of Undergraduate Studies. The optional tutorial available once you are logged into the exam will not count against your 3 hours. A time counter will appear once your exam starts. You are encouraged to take the tutorial, which will show you all the features available for online exam administration.

The questions on the proctored exam come from many places. The general membership provides the bulk of the questions. Periodically, NACVA contracts with experienced (5 years or more in valuation practice) valuers to read a resource and generate multiple choice questions. Questions also come from The Value Examiner authors.

There is no single answer to this question. Maine regulators did not want to stifle innovation by establishing in great detail how courses will be taught and how students will be tested. The CTP certification exam is administered in a secure environment on a "closed book" basis. A proctor validates a candidate's identity and prevents access to any books, notes, tutors or other resources during the examination period. Candidates who attempt to violate the secure testing environment or help others to do so face serious consequences.

The proctored exam tests what the candidate knows about all the various components of a valuation. This is often referred to as ‘book knowledge.’ What is missing from that concept is determining that the candidate can apply that knowledge to a live situation. A psychometric option analysis will be performed, using historical data for 2004-07. There are no proctored exams for Empire State College courses. Course requirements are met through online participation, writing assignments, group projects, and/or research papers. Yes.
