The Academy presents at least two student recitals each year at the Hong Kong City Hall where each and every student will perform in at least once a year. Performance Classes are also held regularly to provide a less formal platform for students to gain performing experience.

One of the tremendous features of Capital University is its proximity to the Columbus metropolitan area, a community of over 1.5 million people. Specifically for drummers and percussionists, this area features an unusually high number of outstanding performers (many of them Capital graduates), allowing young players a unique opportunity to "gauge" their skills. Those that have decided to leave Columbus have also met with great success.

Children in the Infants and Junior School begin team games and may represent the school in competition with other non-government schools in Years 3 to 6. In the Middle School and Senior School, there is an active, weekly inter-school competition. There are also annual swimming, athletics and cross country carnivals from which students may be selected to represent at higher levels of competition. Several Macarthur students have progressed to State and National levels of competition.

Every year, ROTC awards scholarships to hundreds of students, regardless of their families' financial status. Based solely on merit, these scholarships pay full tuition and fees. The Music Engineering (MUE) Graduate program does not have your "conventional" research-for-funding that other engineering graduate schools might have. This is mostly because we want your thesis and research to be completely up to you, and not dictated by some company that is funding you. However, if you have a company in mind that would be willing to support your original thesis ideas, this situation would be considered. However, it is not the norm.

Students interested in stage design are able to take courses in scenery, costume, lighting and sound design, working with the department's faculty of artists/scholars and with students in the MFA Design Program. Students interested in stage management are able to take three courses in that area with the opportunity to intern at major regional theatres in their senior year.
