Most of our tartans are generic or district tartans, that means that they do not belong to any clan and therefore can be worn by anyone.

Different varieties of tartan have been developed over the years. In some cases "Hunting" colours which were more muted as camouflage for hill-walking (and, indeed, for hunting and shooting). "Dress" setts (or designs) had brighter colours, often with more white to be more "showy". There are also "Ancient" and "Modern" tartans, the latter being made from more modern (and brighter) aniline dyes which were longer lasting.

Yes. Actually there are at least 11 Scott tartans listed by The Scottish Tartans Society of Comrie Perthshire. The most common referenced is a "Green Scott", also "Red Scott" and "Brown Scott". Most are actually the same sett or pattern, only different colors. Please see our other literature for a more detailed explanation of the Scott tartans. Until several years ago, the MC tartan was a hunting tartan of the Menzies Clan, primarily for the reason that it was a simple red-and-white design representing the college colors. A Clans that cheat are subject to the same punishments as individual players. However, we won't necessarily be banning every player in a Clan. First piece of advice - if your in a Clan that cheats, get out of it. No sense being dragged down and potentially banned because you're in a game where they start cheating. But since they only herd rumorus about the other clans, they can't really tell if any other clan is better than the one they got in to.
