Can my Nylon membranes be treated exactly like Nitrocellulose during colony hybridization?

Sterlitech FAQ General Filtration
One of our customers was wondering if drying E. coli on Nylon transfer membranes prior to denaturation effects the colony hybridization. Further, they were wondering if after drying the membranes, would treating with SDS before denaturation effect the hybridization? The answer is...NO, this will work! The hybridization will not be adversely affected. This is the procedure they used.

What is nitrocellulose?

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
Nitrocellulose is an ester of cellulose and nitric acid. It is used as a component of many lacquers, inks, adhesives and cements. It becomes very unstable when heated and dry. It auto ignites at 275 F - 330 F in a violent , exothermic reaction to form a dense cloud containing potentially toxic levels of nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide. It is extremely corrosive. Do not process nitrocellulose in your Sidewinder. It is dangerous and related damage is not covered by warranty.

FAQ
There are two basic types of membranes: TFC and CTA. CTA membranes must have chlorinated water (such as from a water company system). I would like to start a Purple Martin colony. Is there anything special I should know?

A Bird's Home
Yes, I'm afraid there is. Keeping purple martins can be a very gratifying and enjoyable hobby, but it's a lot more complicated than just putting a house on top of a pole and letting them come. Sometimes, if certain rules aren't followed, martins may never come and the house is then taken over by either English House Sparrows or European Starlings, the martins worst nesting competitors.

How do VaporSep membranes work?

Frequently Asked Questions - Membrane Technology and Researc...
VaporSep membranes separate gas mixtures on the basis of solubility. Large hydrocarbon molecules with greater solubility in the membrane permeate much faster than smaller, less soluble molecules such as nitrogen, hydrogen, or methane. By comparison, conventional membranes separate gases on the basis of size. Small molecules are selectively permeated because they diffuse through the membrane more rapidly than large molecules.
Related Questions

How are VaporSep membranes packaged?

Frequently Asked Questions - Membrane Technology and Researc...
VaporSep membranes are manufactured as flat sheets and rolled into spiral-wound modules. The feed gas enters the module and flows between the membrane sheets. Spacers on the feed side and the permeate side of the membrane sheets create flow channels. The hydrocarbon vapor that passes preferentially through the membrane flows inward to a central permeate collection pipe. The light gas (nitrogen, hydrogen or methane) is rejected by the membrane and exits as the residue.

Kombucha FAQ Part 1g Kombucha colony- Frequently Asked Quest...
Some say you can wash the mold off the Kombucha with vinegar, but I would advise that for safety's sake you throw out this batch of fermented tea as well as the Kombucha colony and start again with another Kombucha. Always add a 10% solution of ready fermented Kombucha Tea to each new batch you start. This is done to acidify the fermenting solution at the very start--to deter mold growth.
