What is a digital mammogram?
Northwest Community Hospital: The Breast CenterA digital mammogram is read electronically, rather than a standard film x-ray. All mammography images at Northwest Community are read using the R2 ImageChecker® system. The R2 ImageChecker computer-aided detection system enhances the radiologist’s accuracy when reading mammograms. Computer-aided detection is now the standard of care at The Breast Center. Studies have shown that CAD substantially increases the detection of even the smallest breast cancers.
