Software-based emulators of the VAX architecture and for specific VAX hardware platforms are available from various sources: VAX emulators that operate on PC systems and/or on OpenVMS Alpha systems are available. The most popular 8-bit Apple II emus are AppleWin and Apple Oasis, which run under PC Windows, and Apple-PC, which runs under PC DOS and includes support for Mockingboard sound. These programs can turn your PC into an enhanced Apple //e running at least as fast as the real thing using software from virtual disks (disk image files). There are also 8-bit Apple II emus for Macs (one, Catakig, emulates a II, II+, or IIe) and Amiga (Apple 2000).

There are now four emulators available, UAE, Fellow and the new Amithlon and AmigaXL. UAE is available for MSDOS and Windows on PC, a range of UNIX and X11, Macintosh, Acorn, BeBox, NextStep and for Amiga. Fellow is available for MSDOS and Windows. Amithlon/AmigaXL is a commercial venture and does not require a particular operating system as it supplies its own.

Plex86 is the open-source free-software alternative for VMWare, VirtualPC, and other IA-32 on IA-32 "Virtual PC products." It can only run on the IA-32 architecture. Bochs is a highly portable open source IA-32 (x86) PC emulator written in C++, that runs on most popular platforms. It includes emulation of the Intel x86 CPU, common I/O devices, and a custom BIOS. Currently, Bochs can be compiled to emulate a 386, 486 or Pentium CPU.

There are a number of terminal emulators available in the marketplace at a range of prices. Listed below are web sites for some free and some commercially available ones. The choice of emulator is dependent on the terminal type you are trying to emulate and the package that it is interfacing to. The best thing to do is to download a number of emulators and test them against your requirements.

It was designed to offer our customers the ultimate flexibility both in hardware and software configuration. There are three hardware options available: the IPE, which offers up to 24 channels of messaging, and the Tower and the Rack, which support up to 96 channels of messaging. The systems come standard with voice messaging. Customers then select the options that make sense for their business needs.

Our lab is equipped with scanners, VCR's and DVD decks for importing video and various other hardware devices and peripherals that may be checked out. Both Windows and Macintosh versions of Sequencher and Sequencher Server come with a USB key. If you run Windows NT, which does not support USB, you can get a parallel port key.

This isn't necessarily overclocking the PSP since the CPU *IS* a 333mhz CPU. However it will be quite a drain on your battery, which is why the current PSP UMD games do not utilize this CPU speed. So far there have been NO reports of 333mhz harming the PSP, but this option is relatively new so still use at your own risk.

Most systems now have multiple emulators for them on PSP, below are my personal recommendations for each system I have tried:

First, its important to note that not all ROMs are legal. Some are commercial ROMs and illegal to have unless you own a copy of that game. Here at PSPUpdates, we will not allow discussion of how to obtain illegal ROMs. Note: Any post asking for or offering ROMs (or links to ROMs) on the open forum will be deleted. INFO-VAX is a mailing list which is bidirectionally gatewayed to the news:comp.os.vms newsgroup. This means that postings to news:comp.os.vms get automatically sent to INFO-VAX subscribers and messages sent to the INFO-VAX list are automatically posted to news:comp.os.vms INFO-VAX can be a useful way to participate in the newsgroup if you can't access the newsgroup directly through a newsreader. Note that INFO-VAX is a closed mailing list, which means that only subscribers may post to it.

The address for subscription requests is Info-VAX-Request[at]Mvb.Saic.Com. Subscription requests are handled automatically by a mail server. This mail server ignores the subject line and processes each line of the message as a command. The syntax for subscribing and unsubscribing, as well as setting various parameters on your subscription, is: Select periodic omnibus mail messages from the mail server, rather than multiple individual messages for each posting.

Yes. Neither UAE nor Fellow emulate the AGA chipset. AGA, Advanced Graphics Architecture, is the 32-bit graphics standard used on the A1200 and A4000. This means that any software requiring AGA won't run under the emulator. So, some modern Amiga software, especially games, won't work under emulation. Check the programme's documentation for requirements. Happily, while many programmes take advantage of AGA if it exists, they will often run in a lower graphics mode, too.

The CAMEL laboratory consists of 10 Windows computers all equipped with DVD-RW drives. Software available on the machines includes ArcGIS, ERDAS Imagine, SPSS, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite. Six scanners are available for use interchangeably on any of these machines, including three high resolution Epson and Canon photo scanners. CAMEL also houses a large format (36") drum scanner and plotting for professional printing and scanning of large maps and posters.
