The Information Standards are one of the primary outputs of the Government Enterprise Architecture. The standards incorporate the rules and recommended practice with regard to the management of Queensland Government information resources. The Information Standards gain their authoritory through the Financial Management Standard. Information Standards support one or more of the domains of the GEA. For example, Information Standard 39 qld.gov.

The GEA provides a reference point against which agencies can determine compatibility with Queensland Government information and communication technology directions and requirements. So, the GEA can assist agencies in the selection of potential solutions (systems or technologies), by defining principles which should underpin potential solutions (e.g.

Interface standards are the cornerstone of an open systems approach. The goal of open systems is affordable acquisition of systems, which often translates into affordable acquisition of system components. In some cases it is possible to buy a whole system that suits your needs; more often, it is necessary to put that system together from existing components.

A Java CORBA application can use JNDI to access to the CORBA (COS) name service, as well as other naming and directory services. It offers the application one interface for accessing all these naming and directory services. WSRF specifications build directly on core Web services standards, in particular WSDL, SOAP, and XML, and exploit capabilities provided by WS-Addressing. There are several categories of drugs for the treatment of Parkinson's, and it is thought that there may be a connection between some dopamine agonists (one class of drugs that can be used to treat Parkinson's) and the incidence of compulsive behaviour. To a first approximation, Reinforcement Learning and Neuro-Dynamic Programming are synonomous. The name "reinforcement learning" came from psychology (although psychologists rarely use exactly this term) and dates back to the eary days of cybernetics. For example, Marvin Minsky used this term in his 1954 thesis, and Barto and Sutton revived it in the early 1980's.

Broadly speaking, RL works as a pretty good model of instrumental learning, though a detailed argument for this has never been publically made (the closest to this is probably Barto, Sutton and Watkins, 1990). On the other hand, the links between classical (or Pavlovian) conditioning and temporal-difference (TD) learning (one of the central elements of RL) are close and widely acknowledged (see Sutton and Barto, 1990).

Most work with genetic algorithms simulates evolution, not learning during an individual's life, and because of this is very different from work in RL. That having been said, there are two provisos. First, there is a large body of work on classifier systems that uses or is closely related to genetic algorithms. This work is concerned with learning during a single agent's lifetime (using GAs to organize the components of the agent's mind) and is in fact RL research.
