Service Dogs are carefully socialized so that they can function well in various settings (such as school, shopping mall, dentist office etc.) They will require continued social exposure to maintain their comfort in such settings, thus it is helpful if they have regular/daily exposure to settings outside the home. This is not always possible, however, and the Service Dog may need to stay home by themselves occasionally.

A racing Greyhound has never been left alone without other dogs or people. This will be difficult for them, especially at first. However, most will do fine for reasonable periods.
