The Tremsetter stabilizes your tremolo to minimize "tremolo sag". "Tremolo sag" is what you experience when you bend a string, increasing the string pressure causing your tremolo to rock or sag forward. This puts your adjacent strings out of tune. This is especially annoying when you are trying to play country or blues style double stop bends. Also, when your tremolo sags forward, you have to bend farther to raise the pitch of your strings.

To best explain the most common causes of this problem, lets follow the path of the strings. We begin at the tuners. If the they are poorly made, loose, or installed incorrectly, the strings will slip. Next, the strings can bind at the nut if the slots are cut at the wrong angle or incorrect width. Now the strings pass over the entire neck and this is where intonation is very important. If it has not been properly set, you will notice some chords sound in tune and others do not.

The Tremsetter stabilizes your tremolo and eliminates that annoying flutter. The flutter or warbling sound is really your string energy being absorbed by your tremolo springs. The Tremsetter lightly holds your tremolo in position so that your string's energy goes through your pickups and out your amp, not into your tremolo springs. You should immediately hear a dramatic improvement in your guitar's attack, volume, and sustain.

The standard bass guitar has four strings (E,A,D,G). You can also get 5 or 6 string bass guitars. The 5-string bass guitar adds a low B string and the 6-string bass guitar adds a higher C string as well as the low B string.

The double bass is different to the rest of the String family in that it is tuned in Fourths, as apposed to Fifths. E (lowest), A, D, G.

There are several ways to tune a guitar. One way is to use an electronic tuner, of which there are several types. There is also a way to tune the guitar fairly accurately without using an electronic tuner. You do need to tune one string (usually the fifth or A string) to an accurate source like a tuning fork, pitch pipe, or a piano. Be sure to tune the fifth string to the proper octave. If you tune it too high, you risk breaking strings or damaging the instrument.

Modern Bass Guitar is modelled on the double bass, predominantly used in orchestral setups. Dating from the 17th century, these instruments had very thick strings, therefore a rather wide neck. The average human hand has a set span, therefore it was reasonable for bass makers of the day to restrict the number of strings to just four. However, nowadays, modern basses are made that have 5, 6, 8 and even 12 strings! Good question, though.

The culprit could be excessive fret wear or, during the summer, a back-bowed neck, but most likely, your guitar is drying out. Your warranty card expresses the importance of using a soundhole humidifier to keep your guitar from drying out and cracking. This is especially important in areas of the country that are either very dry (such as Colorado or Arizona), or very cold (where one is tempted to crank up the heat, thereby lowering a room's relative humidity).

My guitar strings ratings outline the experiences I have had with strings on my Martin D-1. Others have very different opinions. I encourage you to experiment with many brands and gauges of strings to see what's best for your guitar.

The standards will take 12's and 13's no problem. The basses and baritones can take pretty much whatever you can throw at them.

A lot of top professionals typically change their strings before every performance, whether onstage or in the studio. However, there are differing schools of thought on this subject. Other players believe that strings reach their peak only after they've been "broken in" for a few hours or even a few days, and still others (including some legendary guitarists) swear by strings that are as old as the hills.

A guitar sounds its best when its strings are fresh, perhaps after a few hours playing time have reduced the stretching and sharpness of the new strings. So ? Strings eventually get completely stretched out and lose their elasticity. At this point it becomes more difficult to make small adjustments in tension. So ? Obviously, change your strings when they break ? only change all of them.

Brass. Used only for the bass (wound) strings of acoustic steel-string guitars, brass strings are called "80/15", "80/20" or "bright bronze". As might be expected, "bright bronze" sounds very bright or "brassy". The color of the strings is a bright, brassy, yellow color. Within a brand, "80/20 or bright bronze strings are usually the least expensive. B. Phosphor Bronze.

String weight and material aside, different manufacturers also vary the manufacturing of their strings in the following ways: Weight of individual strings within a set. Manufacturers occasionally differ slightly as to the individual weights of the strings packaged together as a set under a certain designation, such as "light" or "medium. Players may be unconsciously sensitive to these differences ? hence, their preference for one brand over another.

The Tremsetter installs on your tremolo guitar in the back cavity where the springs are. When you put the cover plate back on your guitar you will never even know the Tremsetter is there doing it's job. The Tremsetter automatically brings your guitar back to its "zero" or starting position. Ordinarily, your tremolo relies on the your string tension pulling against the springs in the back of your guitar. Its a delicate balance similar to the way a teeter totter works.

A 1-level or 2-level fusion of the lumbar spine does not appreciably decrease the overall range of motion of the spine. With greater lengths of fusion, however, patients do have a sense of stiffness and may have difficulty with twisting maneuvers. The ability to bend over is usually preserved as this is primarily a function of hip bending. For patients who have 1 or 2 levels fused, they may not notice a difference in bending ability. Some actually bend better after fusion because they hurt less.

Answer - To tune the guitar down a half step simply means to tune every string down one fret or a flat. If your guitar is tuned standard 440 pitch E / A / D / G / B / E, a half step down would be Eb / Ab / Db / Gb / Bb / Eb. Answer - It sounds like your pots are on the way out, but it could be a build up of dirt on the internal surface parts. You can try to clean them with a contact and head cleaner that can be bought at an electronics store. If this does not work you may have to replace them.

Yes. The older the strings are the more likely they are to snap if they have become flat and need to be tuned up. Sometimes unwinding old strings will cause them to snap as well.

First you must determine whether your strings actually change in pitch, or whether you have intonation problems "up the neck" making it difficult to tune in the first place. Bear in mind that old strings often play out of tune, so it's wise to restring if you're in doubt. Check the harmonic over the twelfth fret, and play the fretted note in that position. They should coincide.

Answer - A piece of wood placed between the guitar body and the block part of the tremolo (on the back of the guitar under the tremolo spring cover) is probably the best approach.

It depends on the piano. Each note has three strings in the treble, two strings in the tenor and part of the bass, and only one in the very low bass. One of ours has 65 trebles (X 3=195), 12 tenor/bass (X 2=24), and 11 single low bass, so it comes out to 230. But that's a large grand, so you need to look in your piano and count them up.

Yes ? simply install progressively heavy sets of strings until you find one that you prefer. The short scale of the PalmGuitar? causes the tension on the strings to be lower than they would be on a normal scale. Increasing the string gage helps to compensate for the low tension. Once you find your favorite string gage, you may want to readjust the intonation for that gage.

Yes it is safe. All of Martin's six-string guitars designed for steel strings have been tested to withstand the tension of a medium gauge string. However, since each top is unique, take note if the top starts to raise abnormally. If this happens, go back to the lighter-gauge strings.

When replacing a string on a guitar with a Floyd Rose bridge, it is very important that the bridge should sit parallel to the body so as not to damage the finish. It is recommended to change strings one or two at a time;leave at least one of the strings tuned to pitch while changing the rest, and place a soft towel or cloth under the back of the bridge to protect the finish. Care must be taken not to over-tighten the saddle clamps.

Make the nut slots slightly wider. Not doing this will cause extra pressure on the nut, which can cause the nut to crack, particularly on the lower strings. This is best accomplished by using a file. Be careful not to widen it too much! You should also check the intonation, which will probably need to be adjusted. That is covered in another FAQ.

Tacoma Guitars are factory strung with D'Addario light gauge round wound strings (.012-.053). Switching string gauges can put unnecessary stress on the bridge, saddle, nut, and may require a truss rod adjustment for optimal playability. For simplicity's sake, Tacoma recommends continuing the use of light gauge strings. Any damage incurred by switching string gauges may void the warranty.

Answer - Dropped "D" tuning is achieved by simply tuning the Low "E" string down to a "D". It gives you a chunky low sound which is great if your playing in the key of "D".

This is not an exact science, but here are some suggestions to get you started. For the high E string, take a violin D string and tune it up a whole step. For the B string, tune up a violin A string a whole step. For the G, you can use a regular violin G. For the D, use a viola C and tune it up a step. For the A, take a viola C and tune it down a minor 3rd to A. And finally for the low E, use a violin F and tune it down a half step to E.
