Continuing professional development (CPD) is a term which is widely employed in the language of UK teacher education in recognition of the fact that teachers and members of staff have a professional and human need to continue to learn.

Continuing professional development is not compulsory for RAIA membership. However, RAIA encourages members to undertake continuing professional development to raise the standard of service offered to the broader community and to increase your productivity and your creative and technical competence. Members are encouraged to meet the requirements set out in the RAIA Continuing Professional Development Policy, which refers directly to the AACA/RAIA Joint Policy on CPD.

Under the RAIA Continuing Professional Development Policy and the AACA/RAIA Joint Policy on CPD acceptable activities are subject to the following principles. The Introduction to Enterprise Education CPD programme has been developed by the School of Education and Continuing Studies (SECS) at the University of Portsmouth to complement the UP for Enterprise programme. The aim is to provide teachers with the background and skills to develop an entrepreneurial culture within the schools in the primary and secondary sectors, through a combination of enterprising behaviours and attitudes, knowledge and practice.

The Manual of Continuing Professional Development is designed to be an over view of a candidate's professional activities and interests. The MCPD is for the Part II exam only and needs to be completed and sent in along with your application form and fees. The MCPD is then sent to your examiner who may use it as a starting point for questions during your General Viva.

Yes, some of the volunteer activities members undertake to support the RAIA and the profession can be counted as continuing professional development. Members were asked to obtain 20 PD points a year which could be gained through 3 levels of learning categories. The three levels were allocated 1, 2 or 3 points an hour.

Yes, SLPAs must complete at least 12 hours of continuing professional development each two-year renewal period. The 12 hours may be obtained through any of the following venues concerning communication disorders: State or regional conferences, workshops, formal in-service presentations, or independent study programs.

Level I, Orientation. Level I training provides the new senior member with information required for active membership in CAP. This level consists of the Orientation Course and Cadet Protection Program Training (CPPT). Shortly after joining CAP, the member receives a collection of pamphlets and manuals from the CAP Bookstore that make up the senior member handbook. Members should study these materials prior to attending a Level I Orientation Course.

Educators may earn Professional Development Points (PDPs) by participating in the professional development programs and activities outlined in their Individual Professional Development Plan. The East West School is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing to offer continuing education credit for the Community Herbalist and Professional Herbalist Courses. No other materials are required in addition to what is included with each of the courses. However, it is recommended that students read herb books and related subjects as appropriate, and we offer a selection of useful books which may be purchased if desired.

Basically, there is no difference. Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) encompasses all extended studies courses and professional development workshops held on or off campus. We call this branch of university services Continuing and Professional Education, but you may still hear it referred to as extended studies (or "D2") from time to time.

Some Continuing and Professional Education courses may count toward a degree. Others will not. The program you want to transfer the credit into decides whether or not they will accept your Continuing and Professional Education credit. This means that while one program may accept your credit, another program may not. If this is a concern for you, it is best to check with an advisor prior to registering for courses.

Continuing and Professional Education courses must be formally dropped via a signed drop form, just like main campus courses using the Schedule Adjustment Form.
