Regarding plating: Plating is not only cosmetic but it protects you from the very slight chance of brass poisoning. Our metal JodyJazz mouthpieces are made from a solid bar of brass. Then there are three layers of plating starting with Copper then Silver or Nickel and then the Gold. We use heavy Gold in 24kts. Over the long run the top layer of Gold can start to wear off. You are still protected from brass poisoning by the other two layers, which will not wear off.

Most platers tend to plate a specific type of part—wheel platers, brass platers, aluminum platers and pot metal platers. Each requires its own unique polishing and plating operation. We just never got into plating pot metal(die-cast/non metallic) parts.

I had played a gold plated mouthpiece for a long time because I liked the feel of the gold on my face and how it warmed easily. But it was important for me to satisfy myself that gold actually WAS better, so when we were in the prototype production phase for the mouthpiece, I had the design team make mouthpieces that were completely silver plated, completely gold plated and also a combination of silver and gold.

For applications where plating thickness is critical we periodically measure plated layers using a process called " x-ray fluorescence". This non-destructive method is very precise for measuring the actual metal deposition on an object after electroplating.

That's difficult to say since we have so many different models. The simple answer is that they all play great.

The outside shape of a mouthpiece is more important than most people think. Hard rubber mouthpieces open up the mouth more than a metal mouthpiece. This accounts for part of the sound difference between hard rubber mouthpieces and metal mouthpieces. A duckbill beak has a different feel from a standard beak. Our JodyJazz Classics have an outside shape more similar to metal mouthpieces than to hard rubber mouthpieces.

Some people wear lace wigs and frontals out of a necessity due to medical conditions that bring about hair loss (such as alopecia). Others may wear them as a protective style to help nurture the growth of their natural hair and yet others may choose lace wigs as their preferred hair fashion. Whatever the reason, lace wigs are becoming more popular as people are realizing its versatility, ease, and natural looking appearance.

There are many problems associated with tin plating. One of which is whiskering, like cadmium and zinc, thin needle-like crystals known as "whiskers" form within a period after plating that may vary from a few weeks to several years. A whisker may measure up to .0001" (2.5um) in diameter, and grow spontaneously to a length of 0.375" (10 mm). Conditions that tend to promote the growth of whiskers are compressive stresses and uniform temperatures for long periods of time.

Start with the least abrasive cleaning techniques before moving on to the more abrasive ones. Remember, nickel plating is p-l-a-t-i-n-g. Clean the nickel with a soft cloth (we use cloth diapers) & some rubbing alcohol or white vinegar. This should be done EACH time you use it and should get the fingermarks off. We have also used window cleaner. If that doesn't work, use a chrome polish such as Turtle Wax or FLITZ (you can call (888) 92-FLITZ for dealers near you).

Met-Tile panels are made of Zincalume™ coated steel that provides excellent corrosion resistance for most applications. In oceanfront climates (i.e. within 1800 ft. of a salt water body) or other unusually corrosive environments, an aluminum substrate is recommended in place of steel. Answer: This varies from 1 case to another, however in my case I slept through the night, after just two nights. On average it would appear that most people feel comfortable enough to sleep throughout the night after approximately four nights.

There are pro's and con's to having a hole in the mouthpiece. The pro is obviously you can breathe, although not well through the small hole but the cons are a whistling noise as the air passes through the hole. The hole also creates a small directional jet of air and the back of the throat becomes very dry.

Answer: At first you might experience some minor discomfort at the mandibular joint, this should reduce as the jaw gets more accustomed to settling into the more forward position. You might also have some discomfort with your teeth, since that obviously take some of the pressure in keeping your jaw forward. In time too, this discomfort will diminish.

Before proceeding, be aware that inside the mouthpiece is a thin metal lever, one end of which normally rides on the reed. You can see this end through the mouthpiece tip opening. The lever extends back through a rubber shield to the actual lip pressure sensor. This metal lever is all too easily damaged when the mouthpiece is off- so proceed with extreme caution.

I believe the best mouthpieces for beginners and intermediate are Yamaha (standard) or Vandoren. Once you get to know a bit more about your set-up however it might be worth trying some vintage mouthpieces, especially if you use a vintage saxophone. The old (pre 1975) Otto Links for tenor, Selmer Soloist and New York Meyers for alto are much better than the modern ones IMO.

Place your bees wax in a cup of hot water (not boiling water) boiling water will make the wax melt, we only want it to become soft. Once it is soft enough to mould you can roll it into a long cylindrical shape, just like a small snake. Starting at one end of the "snake" press it onto the end of the didgeridoo. Continue pressing it all the way around the top of the didgeridoo. While it is still soft, mould it into a size & shape that is comfortable on your mouth.

There is no set time limit for a mouthpiece. It all depends on how much you use the didjeridu, how you store it & how dirty or damaged it gets.

Absolutely! Just remove the mouthpiece and clean it with regular dishsoap and warm water or with rubbing alcohol. Alternatively you can run it through the dishwasher in the cutlery basket. The Vappy Packer is a good tool for removing any buildup on the inside of the mouthpiece. ^top
