Not really, closed eyes are conducive to daydreaming, meaning that you will get carried away by your thoughts of things past or future. There is an effort involved in keeping the eyes half closed, which is part of meditation itself.

Your eyes are never patched closed. We place ointment in the eyes that modestly blurs your vision. If you notice problems with your vision, we want to know about them immediately.
