No. The UNH-IOL is not an officially recognized DSL Forum Independent Test Lab (ITL). We chose not to participate in the ITL program for two main reasons: We believe that it is in the best interest of our members to remain as dynamic and innovative as possible.

an associate member of the DSL Forum, the UNH-IOL's DSL Consortium provides feedback on testing standards for both DSL technologies and the CPE WAN Management Protocol (CWMP), commonly known as TR-069. In addition, the UNH-IOL hosts group test events, or "plugfests", on behalf of the DSL Forum to help drive multivendor interoperability forward.

A lens implant (intraocular lens or IOL) is a man-made, clear plastic lens approximately 6 millimeters in diameter which is placed inside the eye at the time the cataract is removed. It replaces the natural lens and remains permanently within the eye. The lens has small spring-like arms called haptics that prevent the lens from moving out of place.

Intraocular lenses (IOLs) are micro lenses that are placed inside your eye to correct cataracts, nearsightedness, farsightedness or presbyopia. There are two types of IOLs: anterior chamber lenses, which are placed in the anterior chamber of the eye between the iris and the cornea, and posterior chamber lenses, which are placed in the posterior chamber behind the iris and rest against the capsular bag.

The lens is important for focusing. When it's removed, it usually needs to be replaced. 90 percent of times IOLs help achieve 6/12 vision or better. IOL is a clear, polymer (Silicone or Acrylic) lens that is placed in the eye during cataract surgery. It does not need any after-care. With IOL one does not need to wear glasses for most of their work and moving about. Moreover, the area of clear vision is much wider. However, for fine near of distant work one may still need low powered glasses.

The University Office of Sustainability does not handle recycling at UNH. Recycling is handled under contract to Waste Management, and this contract is overseen by UNH Facilities Grounds and Roads. This contract provides for the collection of paperboard, mixed paper, and glass, metal and plastic containers. UNH has both indoor and outdoor recycling containers all over campus.

There is a very slightly increased risk of surgical complications, such as displacement of the IOL, but most people feel that the benefits far outweigh the risk. Today, almost all patients having cataract surgery safely choose an IOL as part of the procedure.

Once the Verisyse™ Phakic IOL is placed inside your eye, it is virtually undetectable; however, you and others may be able to see the lens in your eye if you look very closely. Because the Verisyse™ Phakic IOL is placed inside your eye, you will not be able to feel it.

You can swim and participate in virtually any other activity with the Verisyse™ Phakic IOL because unlike contact lenses, the Verisyse™ Phakic IOL is implanted in the eye, in front of the crystalline lens. Therefore, it is not affected by external elements such as water.
