To participate in our program, your organization must be a registered nonprofit. This can include schools, charities, hospitals and clinics, volunteer services, political organizations, fraternal organizations, professional associations, religious organizations, governmental agencies, etc. Each organization submitted will go through an approval process to confirm their legitimacy. Upon approval they will be notified with a welcome e-mail.

Educational Organizations – colleges, universities, and other educational institutions. (Grants are not made to public elementary and secondary schools, nor to schools whose financial support is derived primarily from a church or other religious organization. Trustees will consider requests from other educational organizations whose purpose is to promote systemic change in education or to provide innovative programs whose objectives are to improve education.

Firms that provide overall management services of healthcare settings such as emergency departments, pharmacies and housekeeping areas. For example, if a staffing firm provides an individual(s) to work in a particular area, the staffing firm is eligible, however, if the staffing firm is providing overall contracted management of a department and its individuals, that staffing firm is not eligible. Internal organization registry or “pool” programs are not eligible.

Nonprofit organizations that are eligible to apply for SSEP awards include colleges and universities, community groups, museums and zoos, public and private schools, and scientific organizations that can provide scientific experiential activities for middle school and high school students.

Eligible community partners are private non-profit or public organizations, including: 1) State and local governments or their bona fide agents; 2) Voluntary associations, foundations, civic groups; 3) Scientific or professional associations, primary/secondary (K-12) schools, technical colleges, universities and colleges outside of the UW System; 4) Citizen groups, religious organizations, healthcare organizations and providers; and 5) Federally-recognized Indian tribal governments, Indian tribe.

While we encourage global projects, it is our policy to direct funding only to organizations that have US non-profit status. NGO's outside the US can apply in partnership with a US organization. The US organization accepts accounting and reporting responsibility. Proposals should be submitted in English and US dollars.

Infrastructure Ontario's OSIFA Loan Program allows municipalities and universities to apply for financing through a convenient, user-friendly Online Application. Municipal corporations such as transit corporations and hydro utilities, federated and affiliated colleges at universities and not-for-profit long-term care service providers are also eligible to apply for loans.
