Yes, many of my students have formal Special Education designations such as ADD/ADHD, PDD, Oppositional-Defiant and Dyslexic (various forms and levels). Most of my students (Special Ed. and otherwise) are defined by their teachers as "struggling with reading and writing." First, to accommodate both our part-time students, who are employed full time, and our full-time students, all of our classes meet one evening a week from 5:45 to 9:15 p.m. The number of class meetings per term relates to the number of credit hours awarded for each class; our three four-credit courses meet for 16 weeks, the remaining two-credit courses meet for eight weeks. In addition to the Key Stage 2 information we receive from primary schools, we also build up a full potential and performance profile for each pupil by testing Year 7 pupils when they enter our school. Their test scores enable us to determine the academic needs of each individual, and those with special aptitude or specific difficulties are identified. Referrals by primary schools and by our own teaching staff also aid this process.

The Committee leads a variety of educational programs at Mono Lake and in Los Angeles that range from one hour to several days in length, and from introductory information to detailed science in content.
