Do I need to read my email at my.emich.edu for this class?

EDMT 628 - FAQ
No, you can read your email anywhere you usually get your email, whether this is AOL, hotmail, or elsewhere. However, I send mail to the class list in my.emich.edu, and there are too many of you to make a special mail list to figure out who has some other email. But you can forward your mail so you don't have to go to my.emich to get it. When you login to my.emich, you will see Options on the navigation bar at the top. Once in there, choose email and the autoforward choice.

SpeedGate E-Mail FAQ
Usually, all your mail is transferred off of our servers and onto your computer. Anything you download is no longer available if you go check the same account on another computer. Most email programs have a setting that will leave mail on the server so that you can retrieve it from another computer. You do have to be careful setting this up, because if neither computer clears out the old messages, you could end up with with several months' worth of email clogging your mailbox on the server.

Is my eMail private (safe from being read)?

TECHNICAL PAGE
Probably as safe as the US Mail Service. It would be difficult for an eMail to be delivered to the wrong location. Those that have sensitive information being transmitted should make sure they are equipped with encryption software. Although it is always possible for a computer to be hacked or its security compromised, it is unlikely that someone could intercept an eMail. Customers who purchase items through a charge-card should make sure that they are on a secure server for maximum safety.
