You enable full duplexing in Cakewalk's Options | Audio | Advanced menu by placing a checkmark next to "Enable Simultaneous Record/Playback". If this option is not available to you, your card does not currently support full duplex operation. Get in touch with the card manufacturer for details.

Download and install the latest drivers for your sound card. These are usually available from the manufacturer's website. It could also be a conflict with the audio capabilities of your modem. You can disable the voice modem driver in Win 95’s Control Panel | Multimedia | Advanced | Audio Device | Properties | Settings. Click on "Do not use audio features of this device." Or, remove the device entirely.

Some files on the site (except for our interviews) are in .Real Audio format and should run on any standard browser. I know for fact they work in Explorer 5 and later (on Mac and Windows), Netscape 4.0 and later (Mac and PC). WebTV and set top browser systems may have a problem playing them. I used to have everything as WAV files, which played on anything, but those files were big and it simply got too expensive so I made the switch in May of 2003.

Your company may have a 'firewall' to stop external data interfering with its own. You need to contact your IT department to find out.

First, check your computer for a sound card. If you do not have one installed, you will not be able to use the audio feature of the program. If you are not sure if you have a sound card, your technolgy support group should be able to assist you. If you are sure you have a sound card, check to make sure your speakers are on and that the volume is up loud enough to hear. Alternatively, if you are using headphones, make sure that they are plugged in all the way into the correct place.

The QuickTime plug-in is used to play most of the audio in the course. If you cannot hear audio in an activity, you may be able to resolve the issue by changing a certain QuickTime setting. The Longman courses use globally accepted installation software called "Install Anywhere." There are no known issues at this time preventing the custom built installer from functioning properly.

Assuming that Astropro's audio server isn't down and that you have a functional sound system - i.e. your computer produces sounds off the Net, and you can hear audio from the few other websites incorporating that feature - I really don't know the answer to this one. (Actually, in mid-April '98 all audio files were moved to the main server, and most Astropro pages were re-written to use the new audio file locations.) But let's see what we can do . . . Adequate Bandwidth for streaming both Video and Audio, may not be available through your internet connection. Window Media players often drop the Video frames and play just the Audio in cases where bandwidth is not enough for transmitting both Audio and Video.

Most likely you do not have your web browser (netscape) set up to hear .wav sound files. The following will explain how to do this. Click on options click on preferences click on helper apps scroll down to where you see the file you want to edit under file type. Left click once to highlight it. Is the volume turned up? Make sure you have the correct audio codecs installed and that your sound card supports the audio format.

If you are not using an external mixing board, this problem can be eliminated by adjusting the Windows 95/98 Volume Control. Quick on the Start button | Programs | Applications | Multimedia | Volume Control. Next click on the Options menu and select Properties. Click on Adjust Volume for Recording and click OK. Remove the check marks from any Select boxes you are not using. If you are recording microphone input, leave only the Mic Select box checked.

Make sure that you increase the phone’s master volume (to increase the master volume, VZ Navigator must be off). On the Motorola v325, press and hold the button on the lower left side.

First, be sure you have a the appropriate media player installed on your computer. Often, visitors have no idea whether they have the software installed or not. Read about the Players here. Actually, you don't need the newest player of these software because I created the audio files to work on older players so more people (even those with older computers and slower Internet connections) could hear them. Next, be sure you have your computer speakers turned on.

If you're experiencing difficulties with the audio or video clips, you may need to install the latest Flash Player update.

Make sure that your external speakers (if applicable) are plugged in and turned on and that your system and speaker volumes are turned up. Verify that on the Options panel of iScreensaver that ''Smoother Video'' and ''Mute Audio'' are both unchecked.

Click the 'settings' tab on the record screen to gain access to the buttons that open the video or audio settings panel. For video settings, choose your camera from the list (you may also have to click on the small video rectangle to make your image appear). Sometimes the camera can't be 'shared' between applications, shutdown any application that is or has been using the camera. For audio settings, choose your audio input and set the level.

Audio requires a few things: Once you are sure you have a sound card or audio player as part of your computer software, make sure your "browser" *preferences* are set to hear a variety of audio formats. *Preferences* for your browser can be found in the tool bar at the top of your browser when opened. It is possible that you either do not have HTML email enabled, or do not have Java enabled. Check to see if you are enabled. In addition, you must also have a sound card and an active connection to the internet.

The problem is one of three things: (1) You don't have a fast enough connection to receive the video portion of the webcast, (2) you have manually selected an audio-only webcast, or (3) you do not have the proper codecs installed.

You will first need to convert the FLAC files to another format that your burning program is familiar with. Windows users can use the FLAC Frontend, to convert FLAC files to WAV files, which are suitable for burning programs. For Macintosh OS X users, Dan Greuel has created a tool called MacFLAC.

Or, another good tool is Foobar2000 - make sure you get the "Special" version to have Shorten compatibility!

Shuffle modes keep an internal reordered list of tracks in your playlist. If you manually start playback from some track that you've already played, you'll get the same tracks played after it as last time. Use the 'Playback → Random' menu command to pick a random track in your playlist to resume from. These modes can be used to reorder your playlist on album basis rather than track basis and play tracks in each album in sequential order.
