The Timbuktu Pro for Windows 1.5.x has no known issues with the year 2000 and can be installed on Windows 3.x, Windows 95, and Windows NT machines. Since Timbuktu Pro is a set of services that runs on top of the protocol layer, it is fully compatible with any third party LAN based encryption schemes (Virtual Private Networks) or connection protocols such as PPTP. Passwords are encrypted and connections are established using a challenge and response protocol.

Well, it seems I was mistaken in my original response to this question. Several WinME users have reported that they have no trouble running their older DOS games in this environment, though I still have yet to hear back from anyone running Win2K. Apparently WinME does provide enough DOS compatibility to be able to run these older games, though I'm currently not aware of what needs to be done (if anything) to get it working properly. Anyone care to enlighten me? =)

Timbuktu Pro 32 is the latest release of Timbuktu for Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 95/98. This version is fully compatible with Windows 98. Timbuktu Pro for Windows 1.5 will not be upgraded to support Windows 98. However, version 1.5.x does support Windows NT machines and all other versions of the Windows OS. Timbuktu Pro for Windows version 1.1 works with Windows 3.x and Windows 95 only. Currently, it is only available to Timbuktu Enterprise customers.

None of the above software will be compatible with Windows NT. At this time there are no drivers available to make these software programs compatible with Windows NT. There is an update available for the Picture Navigator software to work with Windows 2000 and XP in the Customer Support area of this site. Netopia does not support having both Timbuktu Pro and PC Anywhere installed on the same machine, nor do we recommend attempting to have both applications installed.
