There is no quick and easy way of doing this, although a number of methods are detailed in the EndNote manual that comes with your EndNote software (see Chapter 7: Importing Reference Data into EndNote pp. 155-164). Copying and pasting the information from Word into EndNote is probably the simplest of these.

There should not be duplicate entries when you merge the data. The software will be set to merge using the VFC PIN# for the providers. As long as all users in a program use the same PIN for a provider, then the visit data will all be merged into one record for that provider. If different PIN numbers are used for the same clinic, then you will have duplicate entries that will need to be weeded out.

This is a Macintosh problem caused by your browser not using a File Type (which should be TEXT - must be upper case), and EndNote getting confused because it can't see the File Type. The Microsoft Office Word program lets you save a Word document as an html page. The problem with Word's normal conversion to html is that it adds a lot of extra code to the web page to allow the page to be resurrected as a Word document. Generally speaking, when you create a web page using Word's 'save as html' command, there will be problems viewing the document in WebCT. Usually it is best to just leave the document in Word format.

The three reference citation formats ACM offers (BibTeX, Endnote, and ACM Reference Format) all require cut-and-paste operations. We do not have any direct export functions, and there is no facility for launching Endnote directly from the ACM DL. We are hoping to add this in the future, but in the meantime, cut and paste the citation into a text file, save the file, and then import to Endnote, using the "Endnote Import" filter as the import option.

To import records from EndNote, save your Endnote libraries or entire database as text files in RIS format: In EndNote, go to the the Edit menu and select Output Styles and Open Style Manger. When an EndNote Web citation is inserted into a Word document, it will automatically use the currently selected output style.

First, save a backup copy of your Word document. Damaged field codes can be repaired by unformatting, removing stray field codes, and reformatting the document. To do so, follow these instructions: Choose the "Tools > EndNote Web > Unformat Citations" command, which will remove the reference list and revert the citations.
