We encourage all parents to be involved in University Prep. One way parents volunteer is by serving on Parent Council, a steering committee of representatives from each grade level that meets once a month. In addition, parents organize and coordinate the annual Auction, the proceeds of which go toward capital purchases, financial aid, faculty support, and the ongoing operations of the parent organization.

Every member of the parent body is automatically a member of our Parent Association. The Parent Association is a dynamic group of parents that organizes and hosts a wide range of social and curricular events over the course of the school year. Families are welcome to be as involved as they like in the Parent Association events. Parents also help with some of our After School Clubs. Finally, parents chaperone class field trips and overnights.

Usually, it should not be necessary to inform the entire school community about a single MRSA infection. When an MRSA infection occurs within the school population, the school nurse and school physician should determine, based on their medical judgment, whether some or all students, parents and staff should be notified. Parents are an integral part of class in the younger years. As students get older they participate by themselves, but parents take part in the classes towards the end of each lesson. For all classes, parents are asked to include active music making in their child’s life. Sing along with the CD. Play echo games, making up patterns, as we do in class. Put the picture cards or notation games on your refrigerator and play identification games with them as you get ready for dinner.

Since the opening of its first Community School in 1992, The Children's Aid Society has used research by Fordham University, the Education Development Center, ActKnowledge and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine to evaluate its programs. Under Ohio law, it is a free public school, which enters into a sponsorship contract with the State Board of Education or by an organization certified by the Ohio Department of Education. The contract describes the objectives of the school, its method of operation, and the performance targets it proposes to reach. For example, the Whitman School of Management Learning Community is not open to students in The College of Arts and Sciences.
