Frequently Asked Questions

Does the surface need to be dried off before more painting can be done in different colors?

OptiPaint? FAQ
No, the water itself does not cause painting, it only lets the system see light-colored tools that are touching the painting surface. If the water beads up too much and there are some bright lights nearby, then those beads of water may need to be wiped off to prevent unwanted painting. A few drops of a mild wetting agent (e.g. Veggie Wash) in the water will minimize the tendency for water to bead up.

Do-It-Yourself | Sherwin-Williams - Replace Title Tag -
A common problem with existing textured paint is that it can be water-soluble. If you use a waterborne product directly over such a surface, it may cause the existing texture to begin to soften and fall off of the surface. Test a fast-drying alkyd primer on the surface. Alkyds have the best chance of not wetting the texture paint.

Do I need kiln-dried logs?

House Logs at Aker Woods; producers of house logs, peeled po...
We can kiln dry for an extra fee, but we don't recommend it. In the long run, kiln drying will not change the moisture content in your log. Logs are like delayed-action wicks and will absorb whatever moisture will bring them into equilibrium with their environment. Kiln drying will not make a log which is prone to bow or twist into a straight log. Kiln drying will conceal these defects, and after the bands are loosened and the logs absorb moisture, the bows and twists will show up.
