Go to the Windows 95/98 Control Panel and double-click on the System icon. Click on the Performance tab. At the top of the Performance screen read the entries across from File Systems and Virtual Memory. They both need to say 32-bit. The kX driver is a kernel-streaming WDM driver, and a latency as low as 10 ms can be expected under Sonar (depending on your hardware/software setup). Currently, DirectSound2D and DirectSound3D are fully supported. DirectSound3D support is under constant development, however it can cause issues with some games. If you travel with the cover open, you must do so as prescribed in the Safety and Operating Procedures (which are very straightforward). This procedure describes that if you travel with the cover open, you flip the cover from back to front. Once open, you must use the pre-mounted strap and snap configuration that allows you to strap the rear panel(s) down onto the top of the front panel.

A Microsoft® Windows 95/98/ME compatibility bug has been discovered in TNM Version 1.1. This error does not occur for Windows NT or Windows 2000 users. Crashing when searching for files usually means that a DWI file is badly formatted. To detect which, use the "/log" command-line argument (see below) and examine the "dwi2.log" file in a text-editor such as Notepad. The last lines in the file should tell you what DWI file it failed on. This file probably is missing ";"s after a tag somewhere, or has freeze arrows that don't end correctly. Either fix the problem or remove the song, and try rebuilding your songlist again.

D2_3DFX v1.02b has a known problem in which it will issue "Assertion Failures" at odd places in the game, resulting in you being kicked back out to DOS/Win95 without warning, and usually accompanied by a single-line error message. Orbiter will detect contact when a ship lands or crashes on a planet surface. All other objects are currently not detected and will pass right through one another. The exception to this is in docking mode. In this mode you can dock at the assigned port. If you miss the port or come in too fast, your ship will pass right throug as if it isn't there.

Everything just stops. The screen freezes. You've got a picture but no sound. All you can hear is the sound of the fan. You can hear the fan, can't you? If not, that's another problem requiring a solution that's not offered here. Your PC screen goes black, text flashes up so fast you don't get chance to read it. Then the screen goes blue with some more text that you probably won't understand, even if it stays long enough to be read. And then you're told to hit any key to continue.

Don't worry - this is a very uncommon problem! There are 3 known problems with particular versions of Deckman. The first two of these have been seen when the program is being closed down while the third happens while the program is in use. There have been reports of random freezes while playing Factory under System 7.5.5, similar to those experienced in other games such as Warcraft. Apple has released a PowerPC Interrupt Extension which apparently solves the problem (I'm still on 7.5.3 so haven't seen it myself). Some people have reported problems if RAT is not installed in /usr/bin. This appears to be a feature of RedHat 4.1, and we've not been able to duplicate this with the Debian installation we use. On Red Hat Linux 6.0 you may see the message "No locks available" on starting RAT. This occurs when running with your home directory on an NFS mounted filestore, if you are not running lockd. Ensure that lockd is running before using RAT (the NFS package must be started in /etc/rc.d/rc5.d).
