Yes. Kaleidescape Players and Readers are only able to read Region 1 DVDs as shipped. The installer can use the Web Utility to set these components to any other region, but it is not possible to set them to be region-free, and you can only change the region of a given component up to four times. These restrictions are dictated by Kaleidescape's CSS License Agreement with the DVD Copy Control Association, Inc. You can have multiple Players and Readers in the same System set to different regions.

The region code on our DVDs is set to Region 0. This means it can play in all countries, provided the NTSC signal can be played on the equiptment being used. In short, no. The only way you will be able to play DVDs from the UK, which is Region 2, is if your DVD player allows you to play all regions. There are some DVD players that allow you to cheat, and play all regions. Sometimes computer DVD players will play all regions. But, unless you know specifically that your DVD player will play all regions, you are, unfortunately, out of luck.

If you are shown a screen stating that there has been a Region Error when you try to load your DVD disc, this means that the disc you are attempting to play contains a Region Code which is different to that of your DVD player (also meaning that your DVD player is not Multi-Region compatible) and so the disc will not run on this machine. First try the resident DVD player as the majority of our DVD players are coded to be able to play multi-region discs.
