Satin Ebony finishes have evolved through the years. They have gone from varnish to lacquer to the latest water based poly finishes. Our approach is to maintain these unique finishes with water-based technology. If your finish is 5 years old or newer, we recommend using our new Cory Satin Polyester Conditioner. For all other satin ebony finishes, we recommend using our Cory Satin Sheen.

Wood finishing materials have evolved dramatically in the past fifty years. Originally finishing materials were made of varnish or rubbing oils until roughly the 1940’s. The next generation of materials used was lacquer. In the mid 70’s to early 80’s, finishes became environmentally driven to water base. This history can be used as a guideline to determine what finishing material was used and the suitable polish to be used.

Cory High Gloss polish is designed to be used on all high polish finishes regardless of the materials used for finishing. We treat finishes made from lacquer, polyester, and polyurethane the same. with all finishes, the surface has to be clean to be conditioned. Cory Products are special water base formulas designed for safe use on all high polish finishes.

Cleaning unfinished wood is vitally important to maintaining its original color and beauty. Deep clean unfinished wood with Cory Coconut Wood Cleaner. Apply either Cory Kona Oil or Natural Wood polish liberally. Allow to soak in and buff to sheen.

Most woodstains and varnishes are relatively thin and over time the flatting agents may settle out into fairly solid layers on the bottom of the can. Applying an incompletely stirred mid sheen product often results in a high gloss coating on the timber as a large proportion of the flatting agents are left at the base of the container. To achieve the specified sheen level all of these flatting agents must be distributed evenly throughout the can.

It is a two-part urethane finish that is applied over the top of the tiles after they are installed to protect against stains, abrasions, and sunlight. Walbernize is a type of wax that has been used on Airstream Plasticoats since the first trailer was coated. Should be applied two times a year, more if you want. It was first used by Airstream when they were transporting trailers. They applied it to the front of the trailer so that when bugs and dirt got attached to the trailer in transit, they could easily clean the coach when it arrived at the dealer lot.

The Satin finish is a matte finish and the easiest to maintain. Because it has a low sheen, it is very forgiving insofar as showing scratches, dents, and wear and tear over time. The Semi Gloss finish has some shine and is a little harder to maintain in that it will show scratches, dents and wear and tear sooner. New piano finishes generally require only occasional cleaning with either a dry or damp cotton cloth. Martin does not recommend using guitar polish on a satin finish instrument, however, it will not harm the guitar. You may notice after time the finish will begin to shine unevenly. To clean the guitar, Martin suggests using a warm, damp cotton cloth to wipe it down and then a dry cotton cloth to finish drying it off. This will remove harmful chemicals.

We prefer to use a natural oil finish and also to not to stain our pieces so that the natural beauty of the wood remains andover time, a rich, warm patina can develop. Our oil finish is a special mixture made up of primarily Tung and Linseed Oils. Most of our furniture and kitchens are finished with this strong lustrous oil finish consisting of 4 coats (sanded between coats) followed by a coat of beeswax. We use an oil because it actually penetrates the wood and is very water resistant.

For Modern-day Lacquered Pianos: Highest quality, hand-rubbed lacquers are used to finish some modern-day pianos. The finish on your piano will last a lifetime with ordinary care. "Ordinary care" means merely dust as you would any fine furniture with treated soft cloth. If a polish is used, choose one that DOES NOT CONTAIN SILICONE, as this material may impair the lacquer finish and will build up unwanted waxy film on your fine piano or furniture.

Sweep, vacuum, or use a dust mop every day or so. ??? Clean spills immediately and make sure the surface is dry. ??? Place a door mat on both sides of exterior doors to pick up debris. It cuts down on dirt throughout the house. ??? Damp mopping is discouraged, but if you must, use a mop that is just barely damp and be sure that no water remains on the floor when you're done. ??? In order to realize the maximum life from a powder coated finish, correct periodic cleaning procedures need to be followed. Generally, a mild soap or detergent ruled safe for bare hands should be safe for cleaning of the coating surface. Proper sealing is the key to maintenance. Longevity of patterned concrete depends on sealing it regularly usually every other year.

Wind Wonders sculptures can be cleaned with a reputable copper cleaner. If you want to protect it from the elements, a clear spray lacquer can be applied. IT IS CRITICAL that the sculpture be clean and dry when applying the lacquer. You MUST follow the manufacturer’s recommendation for application and drying time before putting your sculpture outside. You can also use car wax on the sculptures.
