How do you select the films that you use?

I conduct tests to determine how the film will perform when scanned. Finally I consult the manufacturer's data sheets. I check reciprocity failure times, grain size and other characteristics. Ultimately I select both a transparency and a negative film.

A simple google search will reveal all! We prefer not to receive such questions, because we are mean. You can download 'Behind the Scenes' articles about our films on this site. If you do not find your questions answered in there, we probably don't want to tell you the answers.

Some general guidelines are as follows: Grand landscapes: I use a large format view camera. Today, I shoot large format film in that camera. As digital sensors get better, I hope to eventually switch to a view camera with a digital back. Sometimes, it's just not practical to have the big camera with me so I'll use medium format or 35mm/DSLR.
