City of Grand Ledge residents are able to come to the Police Department for a purchase permit. There is a $6.00 administrative fee for notarization at the time of application. You are free to take the application to a notary of your choosing. You will need a valid picture I.D. There is a written test you will need to take and an application that you will need to fill out. It usually takes about 15 minutes to complete the paperwork. A purchase permit is valid for 10 days from the date of issue.

If you are a resident of the City of Broken Bow, bring proof of identification to the Police Department, fill out an application and pay a $5 fee. A criminal history will be run. If approved, you will receive your permit, good for three years. Those who live outside city limits may apply for a permit from the Custer County Sheriff's Office.

Burnsville residents may pick up an application form at the police department. A copy of the applicant's Minnesota driver's license or Minnesota identification card must accompany the completed form. The application will be processed in 2-3 weeks. There is no fee for this permit.

To be eligible for a handgun purchase permit, you must be a resident of this county, 21yrs. of age if buying from a dealer or 18yrs. of age if buying from a private owner, have no felony convictions and have not been adjudged insane or mentally incompetent. The Department of Public Safety's Parking Services handles parking permits. The Public Safety Building at 413 Academy Street can provide you with a parking permit or you can obtain a parking permit in the Student Services Building on Lovett Avenue at the beginning of the semester. Parking permit fees can be deducted from your pay if you are on contract. You definitely will be ticketed if you don't have a sticker when parking in a University lot.
