A standard 100-watt incandescent bulb produces 1200 lumens (the standard measurement for light output); a 40-watt 48-inch fluorescent tube produces 2300 lumens. In comparison, the 10-inch Solatube produces up to 4600 lumens, and the 14-inch Solatube will produce up to 9100 lumens, clearly a great deal more lighting than incandescent bulbs or fluorescent tubes.

Lumens and Lux are measurements of how bright a light source appears to the human eye. Since the human eye is most sensitive to colors plants don't need, and least sensitive to colors plants prefer, Lumens can't be used to accurately compare the plant growing capability of grow lights. If a grow light manufacturer rates his grow light output in Lumens he's only telling you how bright his grow light will appear to you and light your room, not how well it will grow your plant.

A 10-inch Solatube is recommended for a 10 X 10 to 12 X 12 square-foot area, and the 14-inch will satisfy an area of up to 150 square feet. These square-footage estimates are based on an average tube length of 6 feet with an 8-foot ceiling, with the roof dome in direct sunlight. Light output varies depending on the intensity of the sun; i.e., there is more light at midday than in the evening or morning. Some light output may also decrease as the length of the tube increases.

Wattage of a UV lamp is only one factor in the UV output of a light, and therefore cannot be used as a measure of how powerful a light is. The electrical watts powering a UV light or lamp does not indicate the UV output. For example, the erythemal glass used by other manufacturers in the lamps in their SW UV lights transmits less than 80% of the UV generated. But a quartz lamp such as the UV SYSTEMS LS-16X, which is used in the SuperBright II model 3254, transmits more than 90% of the 253.

It looks for trends, breakouts, and reversals and costs much less. DecisionBar trading signals are unambiguous and posted in real time. Once a signal is posted on the chart, it stays on the chart.

LED light is much whiter and the beam pattern is much more consistent. As a result, the 5 Watt Ultralight will produce light nearly comparable to a 15W Halogen with better light color and beam. You'll enjoy much longer battery life and a much smaller battery.

Because of the thousands of variables to this equation, it's impossible to give you an exact answer. However, I have created a calculator which should give you the worst case scenario. This calculator does not take into account how many incandescent light strings you would have to replace during the life of your LED light strings, for example. An incandescent bulb is highly inefficient and requires 10 times more energy than an LED. The capacitor in NightStar can only power a filament light bulb for a few seconds. By comparison, the energy stored in a battery is great enough to power inefficient devices for several hours. However, when a battery's energy is depleted, it either has to be discarded or recharged. Rechargeable batteries require external and often costly charging devices.

Several capacitors were studied during the development of NightStar. NightStar currently uses a 1-Farad, 5.5V capacitor. A capacitor with an energy storage capability 3 times greater than this is also available (3.3-Farad, 5.5V). However, it would require 3 times longer to fully charge this capacitor. The 3.3. farad capacitor is also larger and would increase the size of the flashlight.

A battery will power the LED in NightStar for several hours at its' maximum light output (the same light output obtained when the capacitor is fully charged and the light is first turned on). Additionally, the ETS Cell in NightStar can be used to charge a battery as well as a capacitor. However, the energy storage capability of a battery is many times greater than the capacitor used in NightStar. Consequently, it would require thousands of shakes to recharge a battery using an ETS Cell.

Answer: The flashing red LED light indicates that the unit is receiving power and is working. The green LED light indicates the patented microchip processor is functioning. The green LED light will cycle on/off for three minutes. The nightlight stays on continuously.

If the Touareg's power management system detects that the battery's voltage drops to a critical level, it will attempt to preserve the remainder of the battery's power by turning off power to auxiliary system. Unfortunately, this system does not appear to function properly. A large-draw device, such as an AC power inverter, will drain the Touareg's battery if left connected to the cigarette lighter overnight. In such a case, the Touareg will not start because o f the depleted battery.
