Satin Weave is a basic weave, characterized by long floats of yarn on the face of the fabric. The yarns are weaved in such a way that there is no visible interlacing pattern, which gives the fabric a smooth, shiny surface.

Matte gloves are lightweight and have a dull finish with only a slight shimmer. Satin gloves have a heavier feel and a very glossy shine.

White shimmer is a high quality white card stock with a subtle shimmer or sparkle to it when you move it in the light. It has a very slight texture to it in comparison to the Satin Deluxe.

Tussahs are silks made by wild moths whose diet is oak leaves rather than mulberry leaves as in domesticated silk worms. They vary in color from light cream to dark sandy color.

In a word: texture. The colors and motifs you see in woven silk come from actual threads of silk; the designs are woven directly into the silk as the fabric is born on a jacquard loom. With printed silk, the design is applied to smooth silk using silk-screens and inks. Prints make fine ties, and can have more colors than wovens, but we think you'll appreciate the texture and beautifully intricate construction of woven silk.

It is the practice to boil the cocoons that still contain the living moth larvae in order to obtain the silk. This produces longer silk threads than if the moth was allowed to emerge. The silkworm can certainly feel pain and will recoil and writhe when injured.

Dupioni silk is a thicker, stiffer silk than what is commonly used for scarves and other clothing. It is sometimes also called 'raw silk' or 'shantung silk'. It is characterized by it's brilliant range of colors and the large irregular threads that are woven throughout which are called 'slubs'. The majority of the silk ascots sold here at House of Krypilo are made using Dupioni silk. Washable silk is usually a blend of silk and other fibers.

The Satin finish is a matte finish and the easiest to maintain. Because it has a low sheen, it is very forgiving insofar as showing scratches, dents, and wear and tear over time. The Semi Gloss finish has some shine and is a little harder to maintain in that it will show scratches, dents and wear and tear sooner. The High Gloss finish is the hardest to maintain in that it shows everything - dust, dirt, scratches, dents, and wear and tear in general the quickest.

The ribbon heating mat is constructed from an amorphous metallic alloy ribbon. These are also referred to as metallic glasses and are relatively a new material. The leading feature of this material is the absence of the crystalline structure. The crystalline solids are typically built from small crystallites with grain boundaries between them causing most of the material faults.

A fine glossy fiber produced by cultivated silkworms. Ribbon slates are Pennsylvania black slates that have small bands running through them. These ribbons contain a high amount of carbon that deteriorates much faster than the rest of the slate. This results in the slate becoming separated at the ribbon, allowing either the slates to fall out or water to penetrate the roof. Even so, ribbon slate roofs have still been known to last 50 to even 100 years if the roof is steep and well shaded.

Silk screen is a low resolution printing method useful for only solid PMS colors and is very grainy looking when attempting to print process colors. High Definition Disc printing allows you to achieve a high resolution of up to 600 dpi, creating accurate color, smooth gradients and sharp text.

If you have your CD or DVD duplicated at our facilities onto CD-R or DVD-R, we can put a label onto your disc using three different processes. Which method you choose depends on how detailed the label is, and how soon you need the discs. If your label consists solely of black text and/or vector artwork, we can thermal print directly to the surface of the disc. Your label can be printed directly onto the disc with an ink jet process.

Silk Mori and Soie D Alger are spun silks. However, Silk Mori is a 6-ply thread and each ply is a little thicker than 7-ply Soie D'Alger, allowing you to use one less ply of Mori when stitching. Silk Mori is made from the highest quality Mulberry (highest grade) silk. Silk Mori has replaced Soie D Alger in all designs.

The differences are subtle. On finer linen thread counts (35, 36, 40) silk floss is preferred. You use just one strand of silk floss in your needle, whereas you use two of cotton (silk has more body), so on finer linens stitches made with silk floss will look cleaner and tidier and less bulky. Also, silk is smoother and easier to work with than cotton, and the colors of silk floss tend to be subtler, with more translucence.

All vitamins used to fortify Silk Soymilk are derived from vegetable sources including calcium carbonate that comes from limestone.

Don't drink straight out of the carton!" - just like Mom always told you. When you drink out of the carton, bacteria from your mouth can get into the soy milk which increases the risk of spoilage. Write the date you opened your Silk on the screw cap or side of the carton. Remember, Silk stays fresh for seven to 10 days after you open it, up until the date printed on the top of the carton. Keep Silk in the middle of your refrigerator.

We do not recommend freezing Silk. It can be done; however upon defrosting, Silk tends to separate irregularly and this greatly reduces the visual quality and consistency of soy milk. You may keep Silk in your refrigerator unopened until the date stamped on the carton. This is not an expiration date, but rather an "open by" date, meaning we guarantee the quality and freshness of Silk for seven to 10 days when opened on or before the date stamped on the carton.

Calcium carbonate is a type of calcium that is a naturally occurring mineral found in limestone. We use calcium carbonate in our products because it does not react with other Silk ingredients and can be easily absorbed by the human body. We include 300 mg per 8 oz. serving of Silk Soymilk, which is 30 percent of the recommended daily allowance for calcium.
