Yes, we have a vehicular gated entry with only one entry and exit to Emerald Woods. Each tenant has two proximity entry cards for access thru the gate. Your visitors may be allowed (only by you) entry into the community via your cell or home phone from the entry gate phone. You may reserve a gate controller for your car visor that works like a garage door opener for a one time programming fee of $25/each.

In addition to regular protection by the Walnut Creek Police Department, Rossmoor residents are protected by Rossmoor's 24-hour security service, including regular vehicle patrols. There are no armed guards at Rossmoor because Rossmoor is not a "walled city" but rather a limited access community. An evening stroll on a warm night is a regular feature of Rossmoor's secure community. Residents receive a car identification for immediate passage through the security entrance.

I don't think top woods have that much of an effect on tone. I've used all kinds of woods for tops and I can't say this one sounds growly or that one sounds smooth, or whatever. I just don't see how a 1/4" thick piece of top wood can compete with a 1 1/2" thick piece of body wood for tone. It doesn't add up to me. OK, a top wood might effect the tone, but in what way or to what degree I don't know. They look pretty though and I can get just about anything.

Woods Bosses supervise the staff and the crews. They lead the staff training for their program. During the session, they work with a different crew each day and oversee weekend activities. They also provide staff support and act as a parent-staff liaison. The Woods Boss position is a seasonal job, and is typically someone who has worked for NYC in the past as a crew leader.

Our Wasters are made from crop grown American Hickory, the best wood for martial arts weapons. Hickory is used to make axe and hammer handles so it known for toughness and durability. You will spend all of staff training with your Woods Boss or PC. During the session, your Woods Boss or PC will spend about one day with each crew during the week. Woods Bosses will have an extra day in the field, and will be able to see more crews. PCs, on the other hand, have to be in the office and won't see every crew every week. Your Woods Boss or PC will spend the day working with you and your crew, and spend some time with you back at camp.
