To access information held by Council you will need to lodge an Access to Information Application form.

City Council meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month at 7:00pm at Council Chambers located in City Hall at 10500 North Military Trail, Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410.

The Office of English Language Programs maintains a cooperative relationship worldwide with our colleagues from the United Kingdom. In many countries, the Office of English Language Programs/U.S. embassies and the British Council are joint sponsors of a wide variety of English language projects, such as national English teaching conferences.

Logging in to British Council Online is easy. Enter the following details to access the member home page: This is an 8 character unique number consisting of 3 letters followed by five numeric characters. This number is printed at the back of your library card) All individual members have access to British Council Online as part of their library membership. However access to BC Online only does not automatically make you a library member.

You can become a member by clicking on the 'Subscribe now' link on the home page of the portal. Before taking membership, you have the option of registering as a free trial member. You can pay online by using a credit card. When you select the Credit Card option, the system prompts you to enter your Credit Card number. After the payment details are approved, the system sends you a confirmation email informing you that the selected services have been activated for you.

All our teachers are native speakers and all hold internationally recognised English language teaching qualifications. They have experience in teaching foreign students and understand their language learning needs. We have unrivalled experience in preparing students for the University of Cambridge English Language examinations FCE, CAE, CPE, BEC and IELTS etc. We use modern textbooks and design course materials for the specific needs of our students.

If you are a new student and you want to register for a course you need to:come in person to the British Council within the registration period and to take a written placement test (20 minutes), followed by an 5-minute interview with one of our teachers. Tests start every half an hour. The teacher will recommend the most suitable course for you. The placement test is free of charge. If you want a place on one of the groups, you have to pay the course fee.

The British Council inspects schools to see if the teaching, accommodation, publicity material, premises and facilities are a good standard. This is why it is important that you choose a school that can display this symbol.

The British Council is an official organisation that, amongst other activities, offers a voluntary scheme for monitoring and assessing English language school in the UK. 'Accreditation' by the British Council means that a school has passed the tests of quality set by the British Council's English in Britain Accreditation Scheme. This accreditation is seen by many as an indication of the quality of the lessons offered by the school. See the British Council web site for more information.

The name is short for 'The British Council for Relations with Other Countries'. ? The short form of the name was adopted in 1936.

The first overseas British Council office was the British Institute in Cairo, set up in 1938. ? The representative was Mr C A F Dundas.
