What is staging?

Survive Prostate Cancer:FAQ
There are two types of staging, clinical and pathological. Both provide indicators of how far the cancer might have spread. Clinical staging is based on clinical information such as a DRE, PSA levels, ultrsound, biopsy, etc and is never 100% accurate. The most accurate way to ascertain the spread of the cancer is with pathological staging, which actually means looking at samples of all of the tissue in question. Unfortunately, the only way this can be done is to remove the prostate.

What is 'staging'?

FAQ Rearrangements Home stagers, consulting, preparing house...
Staging is the process of preparing a home for show, usually referring to preparing a house to show for sale. A home could also be 'staged' for a special event, for example, an open house or a wedding. Staging goes way beyond cleaning and tidying. It is marketing. Techniques are used to involve all five of the viewer's senses, creating a positive first impression and a pleasant emotional response.

FAQ
Staging, in real estate, means to temporarily decorate or dress a home in a scale down version-so you would not completely furnish a home, just add some purposeful d?cor, color, touches, create a focal point in each room-all primarily for the purpose of selling or renting a home much more quickly and for a higher price. When done correctly, staging creates emotion, comfort and feelings and as we all know, theses are the things that sells houses.

Tumors also are "staged" to indicate the extent of the tumor locally and throughout the body. The oncologist stages a tumor based on the pathology report and other diagnostic tests. Some of these tests may be performed the same day as your appointment, some may have to be scheduled for a future date. Patients with the same stage and type of cancer have similar treatment. In general, the higher the stage of cancer the more difficult it is to treat.

This is the process your doctors use to define the extent and aggressiveness of your tumor. Staging requires an accurate grading by the pathologist as to whether the tumor is a high-grade or low-grade tumor. High-grade tumors have a greater chance of both regrowing in the same area after a previous surgical removal (local recurrence) and spreading to other sites (metastasis) in the body.

Third staging is not recommended, but sometimes it is still done. Why?

Lubriquip | Frequently Asked Questions
Third staging is sometimes used when the number of bearing points involved exceed the practical limit for two stages. Another reason is that some lube points, either singly or in groups, may need very small amounts of lubricant relative to other lube points nearby, so a third stage can be designed to be fed from a secondary feeder and further reduce the output volumes to the values required.

How is staging different from interior design?

FAQ Rearrangements Home stagers, consulting, preparing house...
The objectives of interior design and staging homes for sale are almost the opposite. The interior design process personalizes the home to reflect the tastes of its occupants and to accommodate their lifestyle. Staging depersonalizes and neutralizes the space and arranges it to suggest a lifestyle appealing to the greatest possible number of potential buyers. Interior design for living in the home will encourage display of your personal collections and family photos.

Is staging a tax deductible expense?

FAQ Rearrangements Home stagers, consulting, preparing house...
Yes, in some cases. In Canada, if you changed jobs and are moving closer to your work you may qualify for a deduction of moving expenses. These expenses would include costs of selling your house and part of those costs would be staging. If you are selling revenue property, I believe the cost of staging would be deductable as a cost of selling and would reduce your capital gains. Be sure to check your circumstances with a tax accountant or Revenue Canada.
