BlueMoon Stock files are JPEG compressed. While no image degradation is noticeable after onecompression-decompression cycle, subsequent compressions will begin to soften the images. It is important, therefore, for optimal image quality, never re-save images as JPEG-compressed files. Images from BlueMoon Stock are intended to be as versatile as possible for the end user.

JPEG vs TIFF: If you plan to print your images or view them on tv then it is best to have your images saved as a JPEG format. Most photo processing stores will print a photo from Jpeg format. A Jpeg image can lose detail if it is edited and re-saved numerous times. This does not occur with an image saved as a TIFF format. If you intend to heavily edit your images on computer then you may be best considering having your images also saved in TIFF format.

We can image practically all formats. We can't image the "native" formats of some of the newer programs (for example: In-Design), but we can create slides from most any photo editing software file: psd, ai, eps, pdf, pdd, tiff, jpeg, bmp, tga, and gif. Having said that, we do recommend that for the best results you don't send pure Photoshop (psd) or Illustrator (ai) files. We recommend that you save them in RGB format, as either tiffs or jpegs.

When you download the pictures from your PocketCam, the pictures are loaded into the PocketCam Manager in a bitmap (.bmp) format. Bitmap format is universal, but the file size is too large to send through email, or publish on the Internet. These are attractive formats as they result in much smaller files than TIFF. Unfortunately, there are several good reasons why you should not use them for print. The choice of JPEG format over GIF for the larger images was made for two different reasons. The first is a matter of size. In most cases, the JPEG images are smaller. In order to reduce the load on both our server machine as well as on the network and users machine, it was felt that using JPEG compression was a reasonable alternative. If you are scanning the images yourself from photographs it is better to save them in either tif, or eps format. These image formats will preserve the color and sharpness of your pictures the best. However, we will accept jpg or jpeg if it is at least 300dpi. File formats like gif or jpg compress the pictures color and pixel resolution and may not maintain the true color of the image.

You need a stream to read the response, WebResponse.GetResponseStream(), and a stream to write it to the hard drive. FileStream should do the trick. You'll have to write to the filestream what you read from the response stream.
