Some files on the Mac contain supplemental information that is associated with the file. While the Mac can keep these associations intact, other operating systems (such as Windows) cannot since they are not built to understand such supplemental information.

Saving your files to the G: drive is important for several reasons: 1) When you save to your G: drive your files are automatically backed up every night; 2) Your files are accessible wherever you login on campus; 3) If your computer crashes (or has any other problem that causes it to not function properly) then you won't lose any files when MCnet Support has to reimage your computer. The preferred method is to boot directly from the CD to clone the drive. To clone a drive within Windows you must install the EZ Gig II application. Insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive. If you have your files on an old Mac with a SCSI drive internal or external; and your new Mac does not have a SCSI external connector or use SCSI drives internally, what can you do? You still need SuperScrubber. Many software programs periodically save your work in progress as a safety precaution should the program or computer crash. These periodically saved backup files are saved to your own hard drive, not to the network. Therefore bits and pieces of your work are at risk unless you use SuperScrubber to erase them.
