JMF needs to query your system for capture devices. This happens automatically when you run JMStudio for the first time. If you upgraded from an earlier version of JMF 2.1.1 or just installed a new capture device or the registry file was deleted, you'll need to force JMF to query for capture devices again.

JMStudio is a sample application that ships as a part of the JMF 2.1.1 bundle. It is contained in the jmf.jar file and can be run with the command "java JMStudio". This GUI-based tool provides playback, capture, transmit and transcode functionalities.

Video capturing process is system of data transfer from the camera to the memory and to the harddisk, in that order. It's efficiency depends not just on the camera but also the memory-to-harddisk transfer speed. Optimize your PC's performance by making sure your drive is not using compatibility mode. Also if possible, enable the DMA mode of your drive. Ensure that your graphics card's driver supports DirectX. Use a CPU that supports MMX to improve the image processing speed.

No. Both the Professional and Personal comes with its own PCI card. The Pixera Camera itself generates separate Red, Green, and Blue information that yields much higher quality color than the chrominance/luminance information produced by normal video cameras. This higher color quality is in addition to the already improved resolution possible with the Pixera Camera.

If your video capture card comes with VfW drivers, the VfW API does not include support for channel tuning or video standard selection. In order to support these features ShowShifter must hook into your video capture card vendor's private API to change channels/video standards. We have attempted to support the most common capture cards and will be extending our support over time.

We don't recommend bringing video cameras, or even expensive still cameras, on trips. Many people bring disposable waterproof cameras, which work just fine. Most of our selections that cost less than $400 do not have a preview option. This is not our choice. If there is no preview option the producer of the product has chosen not to make previews of the program and therefore we do not have them to send. Yes. We can provide clip-on bags that attach to the horse's saddle which will allow you to carry your camera. Video camera's can be carried in our saddle bags but it is not recommended as it is difficult to film while riding.

The Live View feature allows you to use the LCD monitor as a viewfinder to compose shots or to shoot while viewing an enlarged display on the monitor. While setting up a shot, changes you make to the Exposure Compensation and White Balance (WB) settings are previewed on the Live View monitor so you can see their effect before shooting. The effects are previewed in all shooting modes, including those in which the camera automatically adjusts exposure and/or white balance, such as Scene mode.

Unlike point and shoot digital cameras, Canon EOS digital cameras are SLRs, which means they use mirrors. The image sensor is situated behind the mirror, so no light reaches the image sensor normally but is instead deflected up into the viewfinder. When a picture is taken the mirror flips up out of the way, blacking out the viewfinder and letting light reach the image sensor.

Look for the CaptureView Binocular Camera in Windows Explorer. The Camera should be listed as "Removable Disk" or "Binocular". You can browse the camera's memory as if it were a hard drive. You may now copy images or files from the camera's memory to your PC just as you would with any external hard drive or flash memory. If the CaptureView Binocular Camera is not visible in Windows Explorer, try changing USB ports.

The frame rate will vary depending on the capabilities and configuration of the system used to capture the video. Xclaim™ VR does not include real-time hardware video compression such as M-JPEG compression.

Sony MicroMV video cameras record and put out video in the MPEG-2 video format, which unfortunately cannot be captured in Movie Maker. Use the software that came with your Sony MicroMV video camera to capture video from the camera, and then import the resulting video file into Movie Maker. Connect your Sony MicroMV camera to your computer using an analog connection, such as an S-video cable or RCA cable, and then capture the video using Movie Maker.
