Families and organizations can display the Quilt almost anywhere, at both public and private events, including: Local events honoring donors such as donor recognition ceremonies, memorial events, dinners, brunches, picnics Family gatherings or milestone events such as reunions, memorial services, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and holidays Donor awareness activities: April is National Donate Life Month, but the Quilt can be reserved for a donor awareness campaign at any time throughout the y.

Yes. Because the Quilt is so large, it travels to different venues in sections. However, all panels of "Patches of Love" are displayed together at the National Donor Recognition Ceremonies in Washington, DC, and at the U.S. Transplant Games. If you are attending a quilt display event in your area and would like to see a particular panel, please contact us well in advance to make your request.

Please notify the NDFC of any special requests, including requests for a specific panel of the Quilt. Arrangements must be made in advance to display the Quilt properly and to obtain permission from the venue where the Quilt will be displayed.

We use a computerized longarm machine system on all t-shirt quilts. Please check out the Quilt Style page to see the standard quilting pattern that we use. Your quilt will be densly quilted for strength. We use Hobbs 80/20 (cotton/poly) batting and is machine washable in cold water.

The entire quilt is hand-stitched by donor family volunteers. Because each panel contains 70 patches, we must receive a full set of 70 before any one panel can be completed. Generally, it takes several months to a year for a quilt patch to be completed.

The entire Quilt is displayed at the U.S. Transplant Games (held in even-numbered years by the National Kidney Foundation) and at the National Donor Recognition Ceremony and Workshop (held in odd-numbered years by the Division of Transplantation, Health Resources and Services Administration, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services). The NDFC is proud to have one panel of the National Donor Family Quilt on permanent display at The National Donor Memorial in Richmond, Virginia.

Yes! Donor families can reserve a panel of the Quilt for family gatherings or events in their local area. Families can request their loved one's Quilt panel for display on special occasions, holidays or local events. Some families reserve a Quilt panel for family reunions, memorial services, weddings, birthdays or anniversaries.

That depends somewhat on the quilting design that you choose. Fullness in a quilt top is best "disguised" by selecting a design that meanders over the whole quilt without crossing over itself, and also using a higher loft batting.

The Quilt is a very special project for us and we try to publish your loved one's patch as soon as possible. However, because publishing the digital images and stories from each quilt panel is complex, it could take several months for your patch to appear on the web site. If you have difficulty locating your patch, contact the National Donor Family Council to find out which panel your loved one's patch is on and when you can expect to see it on the website.

If you would like me to bind your quilt, you must provide adequate binding ready to be applied to the quilt. I will machine stitch it to the top first and then hand stitch it to the back.

I ship using Priority Mail through the US Postal Service. The cost is variable depending upon your zip code and the weight of your parcel. The rate we charge includes $200 insurance. The number of outfits that will fit on one quilt varies due to the size of the quilt and the size of the outfits. If you are using baby clothes, you will obviously be able to use more clothes than if you are using toddler or older children's clothing.

No. I just don't have the time! Painting fabric as a business takes an incredible amount of time, and when you add in writing patterns, preparing kits, lecturing, teaching workshops, and making my own quilts, there isn't a lot of time left over. And my husband, kids, and grandkids need to see me once in a while, too!

You will recieve the 'Quilt Kit' in 3-7 business days. The Quilt Kit makes an excellent holiday, graduation, or birthday GIFT. Once the t-shirts are returned to us via the quilt kit, the finished quilt will be returned in 4-8 weeks.

Your CollegeQuilt is washable and we suggest washing it gently and drying with a lower heat. For the first wash we recommend using cold water and hanging it to dry, from that wash forward using machines to wash and dry will be OK.

If you want to create a barn quilt for your own barn or farm building, you can request a supply list and diagrams of how to build the frame and mount the quilt on the barn. A 'Chipped Quilt is any quilt that has had one of our microchips implanted within it. The microchip is a tiny computer 'chip which has an identification number programmed into it. The 'chip is encased in smooth, strong biocompatible glass, and is small enough to fit into a hypodermic needle. Once a quilt is 'Chipped, it can be identified by this one-of-a-kind number. The identification number cannot be altered or intentionally removed from the 'chip itself.

Our 'chips are available in two forms to allow easy embedding into quilts that are either finished or "in progress". For a finished quilt, we suggest our 'Chip Injection System. The System consists of a large needle syringe that is pre-loaded with the 'chip. The syringe is used to place the 'chip through the backing fabric and into the batting anywhere in the quilt.

Quilts that have alternate photos and quilt blocks have machine quilting on the quilt blocks. If all the blocks are filled with photos, the quilt is hand tied. (There is no quilting on the photos.)

Of course you can! The competition has to come up with a sales pitch of some kind, but that's all it is! A way to convince you to buy theirs instead of ours. Round Hoops have been successfully used for centuries for every kind of needlework. Nearly all needlework is done on woven fabric. Round hoops give you even tension and grip firmly. Our hoops hold fabric without slipping, and used correctly, do not distort the weave in any way. It is easier to reach all areas of the hoop with a round hoop.

Yes! We can transfer your digital photos to a quilt for you. You provide the digital pictures (800x600 dpi or higher), and we will take care of the rest. For each photo you would like us to transfer to a new white t-shirt, add a "Photo T-Shirt Square" to your order: To provide your digital photos, email them to sales@campusquilt.com. Be sure to include your name and to number each photo to match the numbers provided in your t-shirt quilt kit.
