This depends entirely on the program you choose to attend. Most of the time if you study through a Concordia program, it is unnecessary to have a language proficiency to study abroad. However, there are programs that are geared more specifically to enhance a proficiency development. This is yet another excellent question to ask an advisor in the International Education Office if you had a more precise program in mind.

To be eligible for study abroad, the Educational Policy Committee (EPC) has mandated that students have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Students with lower GPA’s must apply to the International Academic Programs Advisory Committee. See Procedures for Applying for details. Please note that some programs (e.g. Oxford, LSE, UCL) have higher GPA requirements. Students should be in good health physically, emotionally, and mentally.

Students with one year of college level German may participate in Northwestern's Summer Study Abroad Program in Bayreuth where they enroll in intensive language instruction. Upon returning to Northwestern, students take the departmental placement exam, which will determine whether or not the language requirement has been satisfied. Students must show a knowledge of the language corresponding to the end of Intermediate German (German 102-3) in order to satisfy the WCAS language requirement.

Students who go on one of the programs approved by the Spanish Department may fulfill the requirements for 200-level courses in literature and civilization. I have been writing creatively in this form for most of my life. The actual research of visual language analytically can be said to have been inspired when I was sixteen and read Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics, though it didn't develop into a full blown linguistic study until I was an undergraduate in college at UC Berkeley. International internships for academic credit are currently only available to students who are already studying abroad through a Philadelphia University program at a foreign school that offers an internship option. An example is American Continental University’s program in London. However, other options do exist.

It is very important to receive immunizations when traveling to certain areas. You may review the travel site at the Center for Disease Control. The Health Center does not accept health insurance nor do we do any insurance billing. Student's office visits and some services are covered under the student fees. Receipts are provided for services that are not covered by the student fee and students may submit that to their Health Insurance carrier for reimbursement.

Talk with your international study advisor to make sure that studying abroad will not interfere with the completion on your major and/or your graduation date. In order to receive UW-Madison credit for courses taken abroad, the university requires that each course you take at your program site be assigned an 'equivalent' UW-Madison department, course title and number. This equivalent course will be recorded on your UW-Madison transcript. The course equivalency process must be completed by all students who study abroad. There are two types of prerequisites. First, undergraduate business students must be juniors or seniors, and must have a UNF GPA of 2.75 or higher. Most programs require that you have completed ECO 2023, ECO 2013, MAN 3025, and MAR 3023 prior to departure. Graduate business students must have completed at least three 6000-level business courses at UNF and must have a UNF graduate GPA of at least 3.0. Second, each course abroad might have its own prerequisite.
